Oṃ. Ākāśagarbha, with a white-yellow body, holds a lotus in his right hand, and his left hand rests on his hip. Jñānaketu, with a blue body, holds a victory banner in his right hand, and his left hand holds a fist resting on his hip. In the west, Candraprabha, with a white body, holds a crescent moon on a lotus in his right hand, and his left hand holds a fist resting on his hip. Amṛtaprabha, with a white body, holds a vase in his right hand, and his left hand holds a fist resting on his hip. Bhadrapāla, white and red, holds a burning jewel in his right hand, and his left hand holds a fist resting on his hip. Jālinīprabha, with a red body, holds a vajra net. In the north, Vajragarbha, with a blue-gray body, holds a vajra on top of an utpala flower in his right hand, and his left hand rests on his hip. Akṣayamati holds a vajra and a vase with both hands. Pratibhānakūṭa, with a red body, holds a pile of jewels on a lotus in his right hand, and his left hand holds a fist resting on his hip. Samantabhadra, with a yellow body, holds a jeweled rice stalk in his right hand, and his left hand holds a fist resting on his hip. Thus, the method of drawing the mandala has been explained. Now, the method of entering the mandala will be shown. Then, with fragrant substances and so on, after anointing one's own body, one enters the state of Vajradhara. Thus it is said. "Then" refers to the continuation of the topic. Fragrant substances are saffron, sandalwood, incense, musk, and so on. "One's own" refers to either the practitioner or the disciple. "Anointing the body" means applying ointment to the body, or washing it with water. "Vajra" refers to the wisdom-mother, and "holding" refers to the mudra, that is, forming the seal. "Entering" means that in order to invite the deities into the mandala, one invites them with the mantras of the four mudras, and then contemplates them residing in the image. The teacher enters with conceptual thought, and the disciple enters with faith, hence it is said in this way. Why is it said so? Then, one generates faith in the Tathāgata, as it is said. "Then" connects the preceding and following contexts. "Going" means generating faith in the Tathāgata with one's mind. After making offerings, one receives empowerment from the Tathāgata's crown, as it is said. "Offerings" means making offerings to the deities of the mandala according to the scriptures. "Thus" means as before. "Entering" refers to the disciple.
