For terrifying ornaments and clothes, etc., and black objects held for offerings, one should contemplate those evil deeds such as extinguishing the fire called "wind" that pervades the three realms with chains of black rays. Among these, for pacification, one should use fire produced from milky trees, or a constantly burning fire, or the fire of an ordinary Brahmin. For increase, one should use fire produced from the house of a king or royal family, or the fire of a monastery, or a forest fire. For subjugation, one should use the fire of a charnel ground, or fire produced from bones or stones, or fire produced from the house of an outcaste. For power, one should use the fire produced from the house of a prostitute or a Jew. For attraction, one should use the fire of dancers and musicians, or fire kindled on the road. These are the characteristics of fire. The ladle should be made of gold or silver, or made of sacrificial wood, shaped like a lotus petal, its handle should be thirty-four finger-widths corresponding to the thumb of a qualified person, and it should be able to be held with a vajra fist, etc. Its top should be four fingers wide, its mouth corners four fingers wide, two fingers deep, marked in the center with a five-pronged vajra. The hole for the liquid to flow out should be about one finger wide, its spout four fingers wide, marked with a three-pronged vajra. Below the handle there should be a six-finger-long vajra and jewel. The pouring ladle's handle should be about one cubit long, shaped like a lotus, with a mouth two fingers wide, one finger deep, marked in the center with a five-pronged vajra, and below the handle there should be a vajra and jewel. If there is no ladle, then one should scoop and pour with five fingers together, and one should pour the burnt offering by pressing the ring finger, middle finger, and thumb together. These are the characteristics of the ladle and pouring ladle. Then, having thoroughly bathed and wiped the dirt from the limbs, and adorned oneself with ornaments and clothes, etc., as described above, with the intention of pacifying, increasing, empowering, subjugating, attracting, separating, and expelling, one should engage in the activities of burnt offerings, and in accordance with the union with one's own deity, with a mind that is in accordance with the activity, fearlessly striving to benefit all sentient beings, one should do all that has been spoken. Among these, for pacification, one should wear clothes and a diadem, and be adorned with white ornaments.
