It is depicted that, as a symbol of liberation from that, the one who holds the elephant skin with both hands in an opposing posture is called that. Emitting a sound with great power, and frightening the untamed with a highly oppressive roar, is "Emitting a loud sound, Ha! Ha!", "Emitting a Hey! Hey! sound, making them afraid!". That is its meaning. In the manner of a great laugh, resounding for a thousand yojanas and so on, is "Emitting a loud great laugh!". This is what is stated in the Vajra of the body, speech, and mind of the Tathagata. It is called "Loudly emitting the Vajra laughter!", just as the great laughter of a horse in the world is called "Ba". Such wisdom, like the sky, the fruit of the three bodies abides in it, that is "Vajrasattva, Great Bodhisattva!". The Dharmakaya of all Buddhas of the three times, in the manner of emptiness and compassion being inseparable, is called Vajrasattva. He himself possesses great bliss, therefore he is called Mahasattva. The complete enjoyment body of all Tathagatas, possessing non-dual skillful means and wisdom, and incomparable wisdom, abides in the great bliss of the ten-bhumi Chakravartin. The Nirmanakaya of all Tathagatas, pervading all three thousand worlds, abiding in the form of a great terrifying one, subduing those who are difficult to subdue, and in order to subdue beings who have steadfast faith in the manner of the four great peaceful states, therefore it is said "Vajra King, Great Bliss!", "Vajra Wrathful One, Great Joy!". From the unchanging nature of these body and mind like Vajra, the Hum (藏文:ཧཱུྃ།,梵文天城体:हुं,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:吽) of blazing speech is emitted, that is, exclaiming "Great Hum!". As a symbol, holding the Vajra arrow, means that the Tathagatas control all beings freely with the three Vajras, that is the meaning of the arrow. Because of cutting off the lives of beings with fierce actions, therefore it is said "Vajra Sword, completely cuts off!". The Tathagatas increase beings with increasing actions, that is "Vajra Holder, Vajra One!"

The nature of having happiness and perfect enjoyment is desirable and certainly joyful, therefore it is called Vajra. Holding such characteristics, embracing is said to be the sound of bliss. Pacifying the three realms with peaceful actions means subduing harmful things such as diseases and various harms, and eliminating the lands of others and what they possess by means of degradation, which is "Vajra alone pacifies warfare." The eyes of the wrathful deity, who possesses the nature of great anger, are "Vajra alone pacifies warfare." Like the solar disc, burning the wicked with great unbearable light, with reddish-yellow hair standing upright, emitting a heap of sparks from the flames of wisdom, possessing a form like a single-pointed vajra, is "Vajra blazing, unbearable to the eyes, the hair is also vajra blazing." Such a wrathful king, with his fierce power, leads demons and Ishvara, who possess great perverse pride, into the path of the Great Vehicle Mantra, and subdues them with body, speech, and mind in the manner of great bliss, which is "Vajra subduing, subduing greatly." Having the characteristic of many faces, and the extremely terrifying characteristic of a hundred eyes, is "The hundred-eyed one, the eye of the vajra." "The body has vajra pores, the vajra hair is the only body," which means that the body hair of the wrathful deity is hot and rough like vajra thorns, and all the limbs and parts are inseparable from the vajra nature, and can destroy all the assemblies of outsiders, therefore it is said so. "Nails grow vajra tips," which is also an explanation of the subtle parts of the vajra body, that is, the nails of the wrathful deities are curved like a single-pointed vajra, existing like a crescent moon. Although it appears as skin in function, it is said that "the vajra essence skin is hard," which means that the skin of the wrathful deities is as hard and firm as material vajra. The wrathful deities are all born from the nature of the Tathagatas.
