Because it is impossible to mix. If the inexpressible aspect is expressed in a way that is neither, it is unreasonable to determine it with this intellect. Because for it, the inexpressible nature is beyond the discrimination of different and non-different, therefore saying "that is not this" is abandoning its form, that is different. Negating it is non-different. From what other way do things arise? It is also impossible to arise from no cause, because no cause is not dependent on others, so it will fall into the fault of being constant or non-existent. Things that depend on conditions arise occasionally, this is how it is said from such reason. The venerable Nagarjuna said: Not from self-arising, not from other-arising, not from both-arising, not from no-cause-arising. No thing, in any place, has any arising. For what is said, from self-arising refers to the Samkhya school. From other-arising refers to some Buddhists and Vaisheshika and so on. From both-arising refers to the Jainas and the ascetics and the naked ones. Saying no-cause is the Lokayata and saying nature as the cause. If so, when momentary things produce results, do they arise from the past cause? Or from the future and the present? There are these three distinctions. Among them, first, it is not from the past, because the past itself is not its cause. Nor is it from the future. Because it has not arisen, it has not truly obtained. Nor is it from the present, because the nature of things has not been established, so it is not a cause. Or rather, the past and the future are different in nature. That is: half is completed and half is not, it is said to be the present. Among them, the half that is completed is the past. The one that is not completed is the future. The two aspects are different. Therefore, the third moment is also not a cause, so the result of things will not arise. If it is said that the result only arises at the moment when the cause ceases, and not before and after, then what is the cessation of the cause? Is it said that the nature of the cause itself exists, or the thing itself?

Is it the dharma that arises in an instant that perishes? Or is it the cause that perishes? If the nature of the cause is to perish, then because it is momentary, this is not desirable. So, what is the reason for the cause to perish? If it is the perishing that possesses the result, then because there is no self-nature, the perishing that does not exist in itself, its arising that possesses the result does not exist. Now, the nature of the result should be examined. When the results arise, is it that they arise without results? Or is it that they do not exist? Or is it both existent and non-existent? Or is it something other than that? Thus, there are four distinctions. Of these, first, what exists does not arise, because it exists. If it arises, then what has already arisen will arise again. What does not exist also does not arise, because it is unreasonable for horns to grow on a donkey. If that were the case, everything would become one cause, and therefore the determination of what arises from what, the cause and the result, would be lost. Therefore, because the powers of things are determined separately, therefore the producers of the results are determined separately, therefore does everything arise from everything? If so, then is the power different from the condition? Or is it not different? If it arises from being different, then what is the condition at that time? If it arises by itself, then at that time when it is not different, it becomes only power or only condition. If only power is the producer, then that itself is a fault. Or is it that because it possesses power, the condition itself is the producer? No, no matter how much it possesses, it also needs other reasons. Because it is not temporary. Therefore, through this examination of power, the existing result does not arise, and for the aspect of existence and non-existence, it will become the fault that is spoken of, therefore it does not arise from either. Because existence and non-existence are mutually contradictory, they do not exist in one, and the aspect of existence and non-existence having different self-natures also does not exist, so it is completely indivisible. As it is said, in examining conditions: When the dharma is existent, non-existence and existence-non-existence are not established, how can it be called a proving cause, if that is the case, it is not reasonable. Thus it is said. Saying that there are many creators such as Ishvara and one creator, from the constant, sequential and momentary, etc., all are completely all.
