Seeing the nature of samsara and nirvana as different is not understanding emptiness. Why? Because the suchness of samsara and the suchness of nirvana are both characterized by being unconditioned, their character is one. If one sees the suchness of samsara and the suchness of nirvana as the same and without distinction, there will be no doubt. Likewise, if one hears that the nature of samsara and the nature of nirvana are the same and has no doubt, one should understand the teaching of emptiness. If one hears that "the body of the Tathagata is permanent and phenomena are inexhaustible," does entering into that understanding mean one understands the teaching of emptiness? If one hears that "the body of the Tathagata is permanent and phenomena are inexhaustible" and does not enter into that understanding, then one does not understand emptiness. Why? Because the body of the Tathagata is suchness and emptiness; it is not a body of sudden afflictions and near afflictions. Understanding it in this way is understanding emptiness. Therefore, if one hears that "the body of the Tathagata is permanent and phenomena are inexhaustible" and enters into that understanding, one should understand the teaching of emptiness. Son of good family, a Bodhisattva should understand the teaching of emptiness through these ten ways of entering into the Dharma. Thus it is said, one should contemplate the many sutras endowed with the perfections and the methods of secret mantra, and by showing the meaning of gathering together for those who are lazy, it can also be transformed into one's own benefit, this is the reason stated earlier. Because the one who speaks of emptiness is the chief of all speakers, he is called the "supreme herd." As it is said, because he reveals emptiness and the vast and excellent teachings of the Buddha, he is called "proclaiming a profound and vast sound," whatever proclaims a profound and vast sound should be called that. In some books it says: "The supreme herd of those who speak of emptiness, proclaiming a profound and vast sound." Now it should be explained that those who speak of emptiness are the supreme herd, the foremost. The rest is the same as before. The Dharma conch, that is

Endowed with great sound. It is called "The Great Sound of the Dharma Conch," because the sound of all dharmas being empty becomes the cause of perfection, and it is the nature of the Samadhi of the Dharma Conch. Therefore, it is called the Dharma Conch, which is endowed with great sound. This is the Samadhi of the Dharma Conch: On a round water mandala, which has the nature of nectar and is white in color, there is a large lotus with eight petals and stamens. In its center, all dharmas are free from mental fabrication. Thus, it is proclaimed that the venerable Manjushri with two hands, born from the seed syllable Mum (藏文:མུཾ,梵文天城体:मु,梵文罗马拟音:muṃ,汉语字面意思:穆), is white in color and sits on a vajra posture, with his two hands placed in the gesture of Samadhi. He possesses all the qualities of a youth, with five tufts of hair. Meditate on yourself as the body of a youth, a clear and immaculate body of wisdom. On the lotus that resides on the moon in your heart, from the syllable Kham (藏文:ཁཾ,梵文天城体:खं,梵文罗马拟音:khaṃ,汉语字面意思:康) arises a conch. In the center of the conch is the syllable Om (藏文:ཨོཾ,梵文天城体:ॐ,梵文罗马拟音:oṃ,汉语字面意思:嗡), Vajra Jihva Ram (藏文:བཛྲ་ཛིཧྭ་རཾ,梵文天城体:वज्रजिह्वारं,梵文罗马拟音:vajrajihva raṃ,汉语字面意思:金刚舌 然), the vajra tongue. On the tongue is a precious lotus. On the precious lotus is the Buddha, the Bhagavan Amitabha, absorbed in Samadhi. From the syllable Vam (藏文:བཾ,梵文天城体:वं,梵文罗马拟音:vaṃ,汉语字面意思:邦) on the palate of the Bhagavan, drops of nectar descend into his mouth. Meditate in this way for half a month, a month, or up to six months. Then, when you have obtained the signs, you should draw the mandala. On the outside, it has four corners with four doors, and is fully equipped with door guardians. In the outer mandala, the goddesses of beauty, garlands, songs, dances, incense, flowers, lamps, and ointments should be arranged in this way. Inside, it is surrounded by a single white line without gaps. In its center, a beautiful white lotus should be drawn. After drawing in this way, in the months such as the middle of autumn or the beginning of spring, when the yogi is present, offer all the offerings, food offerings, and tormas, and remain in equanimity. Then, sit in the center of the mandala in the vajra posture. Meditate on yourself as being completely transformed into the body of the noble Manjushri, the body of the Buddha, equal to the Dharmadhatu, and radiant with light.
