It is an aspect. For the sake of hearing and rejoicing, it is the aspect of hearing. In order to make the mind capable, it is the aspect of tranquility. In order to do good deeds, it is the aspect of joy. In order to have no doubts, it is the aspect of no regret. In order not to move, it is the aspect of abiding. In order not to dwell, it is the aspect of not moving. In order to be difficult to subdue, it is the aspect of being difficult to approach. In order not to waste, it is the aspect of meaning. In order not to be mistaken as it is, it is the aspect of truth. In order to be able to do it, it is the aspect of the only one. For the sake of strength, it is the aspect of joy. In order not to deceive, it is the aspect of strength. In order not to be tired of seeking all the Buddha's teachings as they are, it is the aspect of perfecting the Buddha's teachings. Such a nature of joy will be shown to be Bhagavan. The so-called "great wise man, great skillful means" is said in order to show that it is the nature of great equanimity. That is to say, whoever possesses great skillful means is called great skillful means. In this case, great equanimity is great skillful means, in order to subdue sentient beings with various thoughts. In addition, there are three kinds of equanimity of Bodhisattvas. What are the three? Namely: equanimity towards afflictions, equanimity of protecting oneself and others, and equanimity towards time and non-time. Among them, equanimity towards afflictions means that one does not become proud when valued, does not feel humble when not valued, has no arrogance when obtaining, does not despair when not obtaining, does not rejoice especially when hearing pleasant words, does not feel discouraged when hearing unpleasant words, does not feel discouraged by scolding, abides in the Dharma nature when praised, has the power to distinguish when suffering, has the power to contemplate impermanence and suffering when happy, abandons attachment, eliminates anger, has equanimity towards friends and non-friends, has equanimity towards those who keep precepts and those who break precepts, does not distinguish between good deeds and bad deeds, and towards the lovable and unlovable.

Not observing, not distinguishing good hearing from bad hearing, not being negligent with good and bad speech, equally measuring the faults of tasting, having equal thoughts for all sentient beings, not regarding body and life, having equal perception of the superior, middling, and inferior, having equal mind towards praise and non-praise, and purifying one's own mind completely towards happiness and unhappiness. The monk Sharadvati's son acts in this way, not thinking highly or lowly of those who harm. This is the equanimity of a Bodhisattva. Oh, son of Sharadvati, this is called the equanimity of Bodhisattvas towards afflictions. So, what is the equanimity of Bodhisattvas in guarding themselves and others? Here, the Bodhisattva does not become angry or seek revenge for the body, limbs, hands, and feet, but is equanimous. Whether it is a change in the body or a change in speech, one endures both, therefore it is called equanimity. The form of the eye is not harmed, nor is the form of the object harmed, neither is harmed. Likewise, not by the ear, not by sound, not by the nose, not by smell, not by the tongue, not by taste, not by the body, not by touch. The form of the mind is not harmed, nor is the form of the Dharma harmed, therefore it is called equanimity. Not being harmed and not being arrogant, therefore it is called equanimity. Not harming those who cause harm, therefore it is called equanimity. Guarding oneself and others, therefore it is called equanimity. Treating beneficial and harmful things equally, therefore it is called equanimity. Equanimity is the supreme absence of strife. Equanimity is the certain contemplation of one's own mind. Equanimity is guarding the minds of others. Equanimity is observing oneself. Equanimity is the mind not harming others. Equanimity is the state of meditative equipoise of a Bodhisattva. This is called the equanimity of a Bodhisattva in guarding oneself and others. Finished.
