It is like that. Love that focuses on sentient beings is for Bodhisattvas who have generated the initial mind of enlightenment. Love that focuses on the Dharma is for Bodhisattvas who have entered into practice. Love without focus is for Bodhisattvas who have attained forbearance of the unborn Dharma. O son of the monk Sharada, this is called the inexhaustible love of Bodhisattvas. Therefore, the Bodhisattva's inexhaustible love is spoken of as such, becoming the nature of such love, and is called: Great love, nature immeasurable. In order to show the nature of great compassion, it is said: Great compassion is the best of wisdom. Because it is the nature of being moistened by great compassion, it is great compassion. Manjushri is the best of wisdom, so it is the best of wisdom. This should also be said to focus on immeasurable sentient beings, just like love. Therefore, all Bodhisattvas who are preceded by great compassion will accumulate all accumulations for the benefit of others. Furthermore, O son of the monk Sharadvati, the great compassion of the Bodhisattvas is also inexhaustible. Why is that? Because it is the forerunner. O son of the monk Sharadvati, for example, exhaling and inhaling are the forerunners of a person's life force. Similarly, in order to truly accomplish the Great Vehicle, the great compassion of the Bodhisattva is the forerunner. For example, the wheel jewel of the wheel-turning king is the forerunner of the seven jewels. Similarly, for Bodhisattvas to truly accomplish all-knowing wisdom, great compassion is the forerunner. For example, a merchant or householder cherishes a single son from the bottom of his heart.

Great compassion! Because it cannot be found in other circumstances, it is called great compassion. Because such a nature is the very essence of great compassion, and the Blessed One is also of that nature. It should be known that this is the cause of all liberation, therefore it is called the supreme of wisdom. The so-called "great wisdom, possessing great intellect" is to show the very nature of great joy. So, what is great joy? Remembering the Buddha's teachings, recollection, joy, faith, and supreme joy, this is called joy. Because of understanding all dharmas, joy arises, and without wisdom, it cannot arise, so wisdom itself is the cause, therefore it is called great wisdom. Whoever possesses great wisdom, she is great wisdom. Having attained the wisdom of supreme joy, and also because of focusing on accomplishing the benefit of all sentient beings, it is called possessing great intellect. Immaculate wisdom is intellect. All realms are vast, and whoever possesses such wisdom is called possessing great intellect. Here, joy and its essence are to be described, that is, the mind is neither arrogant nor contemptuous, there is no existence, abandoning all sensual pleasures, it is the basis of all Dharma joy, the mind is extremely joyful, the body is extremely perceptive, rejoicing and delighting in the Buddha, rejoicing and having faith in the body of the Tathagata, seeking the path with skillful means through the adornment of excellent marks and signs, not being tired of listening to virtuous teachings, diligently relying on that one Dharma, joy, faith, supreme joy, having faith in the Dharma with extreme joy, constantly without interruption having a mind without anger towards sentient beings, having a strong desire to seek the Buddha's teachings, and not abandoning the desire for the Dharma, having faith in the vast Buddha's teachings and being completely liberated, removing the narrow-minded Hinayana mind and generating Bodhicitta, generating Bodhicitta without being timid because of not being stingy, giving charity to beggars, purifying the three circles, having extreme joy in giving, having faith in those who possess morality, towards those who break morality...

Holding and loving, because one's own discipline is completely pure, one breathes out exceedingly from all the fears of evil destinies, completely trusting in the discipline of the Tathagata, being steadfast and unwavering, accepting the words of others, enduring and resolving with a mind without anger towards the path of evil speech, without arrogance, prostrating to the Lama and making images, always a smiling face, without a frown, speaking frankly, without pretense, without flattery, not measuring by gain, pure intention, without roughness in the heart, without deceit, seeing everything as beneficial, seeing without fault, not speaking of downfalls, following the Dharma that truly brings joy, cherishing Bodhisattvas as a teacher, cherishing all Dharmas as oneself, cherishing the Tathagatas as life, cherishing the Lamas as parents, this is it. Cherishing sentient beings as children, cherishing Khenpos and Acharyas as Buddhas, cherishing diligent ones as the head, the best of limbs, cherishing Paramitas as limbs, cherishing Dharma speakers as all jewels, cherishing all the Buddha's Dharmas as wish-fulfilling jewels, cherishing followers as the pinnacle of joy, cherishing those who know the Dharma as being without illness, cherishing those who seek the Dharma as medicine, cherishing those who encourage and remind as physicians, seeing them as Buddhas. The monk, the son of Sharadvati, thus among all faculties, this faculty that overcomes all others is called great joy. What is called great joy is the aspect of peace because of the wisdom of discernment. Because of not being coarse, it is the aspect of extreme peace. Because of not being arrogant, it is the aspect of extreme gentleness. Because of not being distracted, it is the aspect of the joy of the faculties. Because of not decaying, it is the aspect of asceticism. Because of desire, it is the aspect of certainty.
