The aspects of relying on the Sutra of the Meaning of the Earth, the aspect of not doing all evils, the aspect of benefiting oneself and others, the aspect of virtuous actions, the aspect of not regretting, the aspect of going to distinction, and the aspect of obtaining all the Buddha's teachings. These are called the eighty-four aspects of the Bodhisattvas' hearing. Sharadvatiputra, the venerable one, the entrances into proper attention for the Bodhisattvas are thirty-two. What are the thirty-two? Namely, entering the state of calm abiding, entering the state of discerning insight, entering the pliability of mind, entering the truth of the body, entering the solitude of mind, entering dependent origination, entering accordance with the truth, entering non-cessation, entering impermanence, entering cause and condition, entering selflessness, no sentient being, no life, and no person, entering no coming, no going, and no abiding, entering non-transition and not consuming small causes and effects, entering familiarity with emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness, entering non-manifestation of emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness, entering the manner of generating meditation, samadhi, and absorption, entering non-arising by the power of meditation, samadhi, and absorption, entering the generation of direct knowledge, entering non-manifestation of the exhaustion of defilements, entering internal reflection, entering non-entry into definite transformation, entering complete knowledge of the faults of conditioned things, entering non-manifestation of unconditioned dharma, entering separate understanding of selflessness in all sentient beings, entering non-abandonment of great compassion, entering observation of destruction in all births, entering constant mindfulness and awareness of all existence, entering non-manifestation with the dharma of renunciation and detachment, entering the qualities of the joy of desire.
