Since it is formed from a sequence, it is said to arise from A (Tibetan: ཨ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: a, Chinese literal meaning: A). Then, since there are countless letters, why is it specifically said to arise from A (Tibetan: ཨ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: a, Chinese literal meaning: A)? To dispel this doubt, it is said: A (Tibetan: ཨ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: a, Chinese literal meaning: A) is the most supreme of all letters, it is a letter of great meaning and sacredness. This is what is said. This is because it is unchanging, so it is a letter, which is the Dharmakaya. Its essence is A (Tibetan: ཨ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: a, Chinese literal meaning: A), which is the letter. Precisely because of this, it is of great meaning. That which possesses great meaning is called "of great meaning." Therefore, the most supreme of all letters is the letter A (Tibetan: ཨ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: a, Chinese literal meaning: A). Alternatively, the letter A (Tibetan: ཨ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: a, Chinese literal meaning: A) is the most supreme of all because it resides at the beginning of all letters. In another way, A (Tibetan: ཨ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: a, Chinese literal meaning: A) is the nature of the immovable and immeasurable light (Amitabha). Because it has become the nature of accomplished meaning, it is the most supreme. Because it has become the most supreme of all lineages, it is the possessor of various forms. Because it is the nature of the arising of meaning, it is the nature of Ratnasambhava (Jewel-born Buddha), so it is of great meaning. Because it is the nature of Vairochana, it is a sacred letter. So, is there no meaning in combining the letters in this way, or is it necessary? It is not without meaning, why? Because it is said (in the scriptures): Each of the defining meanings should be meditated upon. Correctly gathering the names is correctly reciting the names. Moreover, because the names possess meaning, Buddhahood will be attained. Because of focusing on the qualities of the Buddhas, it is necessary to combine the letters and make them meaningful. Arising from the heart, unborn. Abandoning speech, it is the most supreme of the causes of all speech, making all speech perfectly clear. If one recites this with great effort, then "arising from the heart" refers to the letter A (Tibetan: ཨ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: a, Chinese literal meaning: A). Because it shows that all phenomena are unborn from the very beginning, it is "unborn." Because it itself has become the nature of unborn, it is "abandoning speech." Then, if that is so, how can the wheel of speech be perfected through the power of meditating on it? To this question, (the scripture) says: It is the most supreme of the causes of all speech, making all speech perfectly clear. Because meaning can be expressed through it, it is speech, which is sound. Since it is both speech and all speech, therefore

All speech, whatever is the cause of those, that is the cause of all speech. The most excellent and principal of those is that which generates the wisdom of Manjushri, therefore it enters into all speech. Because it completely shows the meaning of all speech, it makes it very clear. Therefore, it will declare as follows: The letter A is the nature of unborn, the abode of all the qualities of the Buddhas, with the mind of enlightenment as the forerunner, the nature of non-discriminating wisdom, because it generates the nature of Manjushri, therefore it turns the wheel of Dharma, and because it becomes the cause of the wheel of speech that makes all words very clear, it is the most excellent of the causes of all speech. In another way, the nature of non-duality, in the form of the Sambhogakaya, destroys the beginningless power of the dualistic appearance, therefore it arises from the heart. Because it is the nature of the Tathagatas who possess the Dharmakaya, therefore it is unborn. Each rejoices in the supreme of their own awareness, it is the nature of non-dual great bliss, therefore it is devoid of aphorisms. Thus, after spontaneously accomplishing the perfection of one's own benefit, in order to tame the sentient beings to be tamed with various teachings, the holy Dharma is shown, therefore it is the most excellent of the causes of all speech. Like a wish-fulfilling jewel, it becomes the cause of generating the words of manifest desire of all sentient beings, therefore it is all words. Because the darkness of ignorance that exists in the continuum of all sentient beings is dispelled by the light of emanation, it is called very clear. In order to be revered as excellent by means of desire and so on, it is said: Great offering is great desire, it makes all sentient beings happy. Great offering is great hatred, it is the great enemy of all afflictions. Great offering is great delusion, delusion is ignorance, it removes delusion. Great offering is great wrath, great wrath is the greatest enemy. Great offering is great attachment, it removes all attachment. Thus it is declared. That is, great desire is the great god, he with the thousand years of the gods
