These are the bonds of views and the bonds of ignorance. These bonds are very frightening, hence the name "solitary places." What arises from them is definitely seen, hence the name "arising from the solitary places of bonds." The word "that" also binds to the realms, to the destinies, to births, and to the lands, causing sentient beings to fall into the river, hence it is called "bond." "Afflictions, near afflictions, and those with latent tendencies are completely abandoned." As it is said, the afflictions are ninety-eight. The near afflictions are also the same. These have been taught in brief and in detail. There are nine all-encompassing bonds: attachment, anger, pride, ignorance, views and holding them as supreme, doubt, miserliness, and jealousy. Among these, the characteristic of attachment to desire in the three realms, like glue sticking to something, is attachment. Attachment itself is the all-encompassing bond. The characteristic of harming and killing sentient beings, like the Sapan snow mountain, is anger. Anger itself is the all-encompassing bond. The characteristic of elevating oneself by closely associating with self and others, like a stiff man, is pride. There are seven types of pride: pride, great pride, pride exceeding pride, the pride of thinking "I am," manifest pride, slight pride, and wrong pride. Among these, pride is the arrogance of mind that arises from thinking oneself superior in terms of lineage, family, appearance, wealth, learning, discipline, skill, etc., or thinking that one's lineage, etc., is equal or similar to others. Great pride is the arrogance of mind that arises from thinking oneself superior to equals in terms of lineage, etc., or thinking oneself equal to the great. Pride exceeding pride is the arrogance of mind that arises from thinking oneself superior even to the great. The pride of thinking "I am" is the arrogance of mind that arises from following the view of self. Manifest pride is the

The mental conceit arising from the thought of having attained something. Slight arrogance refers to looking down upon others with a slight attitude, considering oneself, who is particularly superior in terms of lineage, etc., as small, and thus being arrogant. Wrong arrogance refers to considering oneself as possessing qualities that one does not have, and thus being arrogant. These seven types of arrogance are called the afflictions associated with arrogance. Ignorance refers to the nature of not understanding or comprehending the three realms, like a blind person. The antidote to wisdom is ignorance. Purity refers to not acting because of establishing an antidote, just like untruthfulness, etc. The affliction associated with ignorance is the affliction associated with ignorance. The three, destructive view, holding to extremes, and wrong view, are the afflictions associated with views. Among them, the wisdom afflicted with clinging to the five aggregates of appropriation, which are selfless and without self, as self and what belongs to self, is the destructive view. It is both destructive and an accumulation, so it is a destructive aggregate. Seeing it with a view is the destructive view. For things that are neither annihilation nor eternal, clinging to them in the manner of annihilation and eternity is the view of clinging to extremes, because it clings to two extremes. There is no action. There is no result of action. There is no liberation. There is also no path to attain it, and so on. Thus, whatever afflicted wisdom destroys existing things truthfully is a wrong view. These three views are the afflictions associated with views. The two kinds of holding as supreme, namely holding views as supreme and holding vows and asceticism as supreme, are the afflictions associated with holding as supreme. Among them, the specific wisdom that holds non-supreme views and the five aggregates of appropriation, which are non-supreme, as supreme, is the holding of views as supreme, which is what is meant by discrimination. Vows refer to abandoning the vows of promiscuity. Asceticism refers to the asceticism of dogs, deer, and cows, as well as being naked, sleeping in stoves and ashes, pulling hair, bathing in places of excretion, eating fruits and roots, wearing matted hair, and so on.
