Indeed. Furthermore, it is said that it is not reasonable for an effect to arise from a destroyed cause, nor is it reasonable from an undestroyed cause. All arising phenomena should be regarded as dreamlike. If an effect arises from an undestroyed cause, then its lineage has no effect whatsoever. Or, if destruction produces an effect, then from what does its lineage effect arise? Therefore, the more thoroughly one examines arisen phenomena, the more they can withstand rational scrutiny. Therefore, one should not contradict valid cognition. Although this is so, what definitive method is there? Because only by proving through direct perception and inference can something be called a real object of cause and effect. It is unreasonable to hold that direct perception and inference, both with and without aspects, are comprehensive. If one is separated from the appearance as an object, there is no entity to grasp as a real object, so it is unreasonable to assert, "This knows this." The meaning of aspect, from non-existence, becomes a real object through various conditions such as dreams, but this is not pervasive. It is like drawing a picture in the sky, being the same as without discrimination, so it is unreasonable. Furthermore, it is said that the absence of aspect is also unreasonable, because the object of consciousness does not have the component of aspect, so the other aspect is also unreasonable. Thus, the mind establishes cause and effect through direct perception and inference, but other methods of analysis are not like this. Therefore, the All-Knowing One clearly proclaimed cause and effect, while others cannot know anything except for a moment. Thus, those who speak of valid cognition with great expertise have made all births as unborn, and that which is free from all faults of affliction is the Thus-Gone One. Why is this said? Because it is said thus: The Thus-Gone One is always the unborn Dharma, all Dharmas are like the Sugata, those with childish minds grasp at signs, and in the world, they practice non-existent Dharmas. Thus, it is said that this verse of the nature of non-birth should be kept close to the heart. This should be understood accordingly. Through familiarity with meditating on the wheel of wisdom, wisdom will become supremely excellent.

will also arise in people. Similarly, in order to elucidate the stages of cultivating the wheel of wisdom that manifests the omniscient wisdom, from realizing all the Buddha's teachings and comprehending all the immaculate spheres of knowledge, two verses beginning with "A A" and so forth were spoken. If it is asked, since it is appropriate to say "the verses were spoken," why is the word "verses" repeated? The answer is that because the near symbol of mantra is the main thing, and the near symbol of vowels also becomes its branch. Since the main part itself becomes a merit, grasping the merit is not an obstacle, so there is no contradiction in repeating one word. Furthermore, why are only twelve vowels spoken? This is to show the certainty of the ground and the pāramitā. Because in the great mantra dharma, twelve grounds and twelve pāramitās are definitely spoken. The letter "A" is the essence of the unborn ultimate bodhicitta, which well shows the ground of faith and practice, and because it well shows the pure bodhicitta, it is also the display of the Ratna Padma pāramitā. The letter "A" is the display of the Joyful Ground, and also the display of the Dāna pāramitā. Because it is said (in the sutra), "Bodhicitta conduct and the Buddha himself, Nirvana and non-Nirvana," so it is not arbitrary speculation, so "A" is bodhicitta. "Ā" is the conduct of the pāramitās such as giving. For the immaculate ground of the Bodhisattva, it is especially necessary to practice the Śīla pāramitā, so it is "I," because it is free from evil discriminations. On the Radiant Ground, it is especially necessary to practice the Kṣānti pāramitā, because it arises from the place of suffering and harm done by others, and from the Kṣānti that focuses on the Dharma, so it is "Ī." This is to show that even if limbs are cut off, one will not be shaken. On the Radiant Ground, it is especially necessary to practice diligence.
