It is not the object of grasping. The truths characterized by suffering, origin, cessation, and path lead all phenomena in four ways, hence they are the principles of the four truths, the path of the scriptures. It teaches and explains in various ways, or destroys with this, hence it is called "the various grounds of the principles of the four truths." Regarding suffering, knowing the Dharma; regarding suffering, knowing the subsequent realization; regarding origin, knowing the Dharma; regarding origin, knowing the subsequent realization; regarding cessation, knowing the Dharma; regarding cessation, knowing the subsequent realization; regarding the path, knowing the Dharma; regarding the path, knowing the subsequent realization, these eight knowledges, the path of the Hearers, Solitary Buddhas, and Perfectly Complete Buddhas, are understood in accordance with the disciples, and there is no disagreement in meaning, hence they are called "the eight knowledges hold realization." Some texts say: "Similar to the principles of the four truths, the eight knowledges hold realization." Regarding this, the principles of the four truths are in accordance with the Hearers and so on, therefore sixteen aspects are to be made, these are the aspects of the principles of the four truths. From establishing the sixteen aspects of untruth, by practicing impermanence and other aspects as they are in a completely upright manner, eight patiences and eight knowledges will arise. Namely: patience of knowing the Dharma regarding suffering; knowing the Dharma regarding suffering; patience of knowing the subsequent Dharma regarding suffering; knowing the subsequent Dharma regarding suffering; patience of knowing the Dharma regarding origin; knowing the Dharma regarding origin; patience of knowing the subsequent Dharma regarding origin; knowing the subsequent Dharma regarding origin; patience of knowing the Dharma regarding cessation; knowing the Dharma regarding cessation; patience of knowing the subsequent Dharma regarding cessation; knowing the subsequent Dharma regarding cessation; patience of knowing the Dharma regarding the path; knowing the Dharma regarding the path; patience of knowing the subsequent Dharma regarding the path; knowing the subsequent Dharma regarding the path. By understanding and teaching these sequences, therefore elucidating the stainless realization, it is said: "Similar to the principles of the four truths, the eight knowledges elucidate realization."

It shall be done. By the aspect of the twelve branches of dependent origination, with the wisdom that enters into truth, the twelve ayatanas are completely purified, and possessing the intention of happiness that reaches the end of the twelve grounds. It is called: Possessing the twelve aspects of truth. These sixteen aspects are the sixteen emptinesses. It is stated in the Great Vehicle teachings called the Twenty-five Thousand Verse Perfection of Wisdom Sutra: Subhuti, furthermore, the Great Vehicle of the Bodhisattva Mahasattva is as follows: emptiness of internal, emptiness of external, emptiness of internal and external, emptiness of emptiness, emptiness of great, emptiness of ultimate, emptiness of conditioned, emptiness of unconditioned, emptiness of transcending extremes, emptiness of beginningless and endless, emptiness of non-abandonment, emptiness of own-nature, emptiness of all dharmas, emptiness of self-character, emptiness of non-apprehension, emptiness of non-entity nature. What is emptiness of internal? The so-called internal dharma is the eye, ear, nose, tongue, body, and mind. Among these, because of their impermanence and non-destruction, the eye is empty by the eye. Why is that? Because its own-nature is such. Because of their impermanence and non-destruction, the ear, nose, body, and mind are empty by the mind. Why is that? Because its own-nature is such. This is emptiness of internal. What is emptiness of external? The so-called external dharma is form, sound, smell, taste, touch, and dharmas. Among these, because of their impermanence and non-destruction, form is empty by form. Why is that? Because its own-nature is such. Similarly, because of their impermanence and non-destruction, sound, smell, taste, touch, and dharmas are empty by dharmas. Why is that? Because its own-nature is such. This is called emptiness of external. What is emptiness of internal and external? The so-called six internal ayatanas and six external ayatanas, these are called internal and external dharmas. Among these, because of their impermanence and non-destruction, internal dharmas are by external dharmas.
