In the teaching called "Declaring the Great Vehicle," uncommon qualities are explained. Subhuti, furthermore, the Great Vehicle of Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas is as follows: What are the eighteen unshared qualities of the Buddha? The Tathagata has no confusion, no clamor, no forgetfulness, no diverse perceptions, no unequal mind, no unexamined equanimity, no completely lost faith, no completely lost diligence, no completely lost intention, no completely lost samadhi, no completely lost wisdom, no completely lost liberation, no completely lost knowledge and vision of liberation. All actions of the body are preceded by wisdom, following after wisdom. All actions of speech are preceded by wisdom, following after wisdom. All actions of mind are preceded by wisdom, following after wisdom. For the past time, unobstructed and unattached wisdom vision arises. For the future time, unobstructed and unattached wisdom vision arises. For the present time, unobstructed and unattached wisdom vision arises. These are the unshared qualities of the Buddha, as extensively explained. Knowing the aspects of the eightfold path, understanding the path of perfect enlightenment. The so-called "knowing the path" refers to fully knowing the eightfold noble path, which is not common to Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas. This alone is understanding the Buddha's path. This is what is said in the Sutra Spoken by Inexhaustible Intelligence, Venerable Sharadvatiputra, furthermore, the path of Bodhisattvas is inexhaustible. So, what is the path of Bodhisattvas? The so-called path is the eightfold noble path, namely: right view, right thought, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, and right concentration. So, what is right view? That which transcends the world of the noble ones, self

It does not arise from the view of considering there to be a self; it is not a sentient being, not a life, not a nourisher, not a person, not an individual, not born of power, not a child of power, not an agent, not arising from the view of a feeler. It does not arise from the view of permanence and annihilation, it does not arise from the view of arising and ceasing, it does not arise from the view of virtue, non-virtue, and the unexplainable, and it does not arise from the views between cyclic existence and nirvana; this is called right view. What is right thought? This is the path of the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, of the past, future, and present. After a bodhisattva attains perfect enlightenment, explaining, instructing, elaborately instructing, causing to uphold, causing to believe, causing to read, causing to understand, causing to discern, causing to thoroughly understand, causing to thoroughly immerse, elaborately explaining, elaborately distinguishing, clarifying, and correctly indicating, this is called the inexhaustible path of the bodhisattvas, the son of Sharadvati, the venerable one.
