O. Those two can also completely abandon the ten afflictions that operate in the desire realm. Similarly, by attending to the truth of suffering in the form and formless realms in the same way, the forbearance of subsequent knowledge of the Dharma regarding suffering and the subsequent knowledge of suffering will arise. Those two can also, from those very afflictions, except for anger, abandon the nine afflictions that operate in the form realm and the nine afflictions that operate in the formless realm, thus there will be eighteen. Thus, by directly realizing the truth of suffering in the three realms, the twenty-eight subtle defilements of the four characteristics of Dharma, subsequent Dharma, forbearance, and knowledge are abandoned from seeing the truth of suffering. Among these ten subtle defilements, except for the view of the perishable collection, the view of clinging to extremes, and the view of holding moral discipline and asceticism as supreme, the other seven subtle defilements of the desire realm, by attending to the truth of the origin of the desire realm as cause, origin, production, and condition, then the forbearance of knowledge of the Dharma regarding that very origin and the knowledge of the Dharma will abandon them. From those very afflictions, except for anger, by seeing the truth of the origin of the twelve subtle defilements of the two realms, that is, by the forbearance of subsequent knowledge of the origin and the knowledge, ninety subtle defilements will be abandoned by seeing the truth of the origin. Similarly, by attending to the truth of the cessation of suffering that operates in the desire realm as cessation, peace, excellence, and definite emergence, then the forbearance of knowledge of the Dharma regarding cessation and the knowledge will completely abandon those very seven subtle defilements spoken of regarding the origin. Thus, by the subsequent forbearance and the subsequent knowledge, the twelve subtle defilements that operate in the form and formless realms are abandoned, thus the nineteen subtle defilements of the three realms are abandoned from seeing the truth of the cessation of suffering. Similarly, by attending to the truth of the path that leads to the cessation of suffering that operates in the desire realm as path, reason, definite emergence, accomplishment, and aspect, then the knowledge of the Dharma regarding the path will arise.
