For some, it is the Dharma of the Hearer Vehicle; for some, it is the Dharma of the Solitary Buddha Vehicle; for some, it is the Dharma of the Great Vehicle; for some, it is the Dharma of the five superknowledges. For some, it is to be born as a god; for some, it is to be born as a human; and he teaches the Dharma up to the point of being born as a great belly-crawler, a Naga, a Yaksha, a Rakshasa, a Gandharva, an Asura, a Garuda, or a Kinnara. Among them, some beings who are to be tamed by the Buddha see the form of the Buddha. Some see the form of a Hearer; some see the form of a Solitary Buddha; some see the form of a Bodhisattva; some see the form of a Great Ishvara; some see the form of Brahma; some see the form of the Son of Non-Greed; some see the form of the Son of Vaishravana. Some see the form of a great belly-crawler, a human, or a non-human. They abide in their own ways of speaking and behaving. Thus, the wisdom of the all-knowing is also the same single taste as the taste of the liberation of the Thus-Gone One. Therefore, it is said: "The Buddha, the Great Illuminator!" That is to say, the Buddha is the one who knows all things as they are. The Great Illuminator is so called because he illuminates completely. Because he only illuminates, he is the Illuminator. Because he causes his own benefit to increase. He is also great, and he is also the Illuminator, therefore he is called the Great Illuminator. The Great Sage is the one who possesses the power of body, speech, and mind. He is also great, and he is also the Sage, therefore he is the Great Sage. What is meant by "Great Sage"? It is because he is always in equipoise. As it is also said: "The Buddhas, the Blessed Ones, are always in equipoise." Because there is no bad karma that ripens in the body and so forth. Whoever has that is endowed with the Great Sage. He is also great, and he is also the Sage, therefore he is the Great Sage, referring to hermits, mountain dwellers, village dwellers, and so forth. Because he appears separately in such forms to those who are to be tamed by him, therefore he is the Sage.

It is said to be great. In the phrase "arising from the great principle of secret mantra," the great principle of secret mantra is the Great Vehicle. Because it arises from that principle of secret mantra, it is said to arise from the great principle of secret mantra. That which is great is also this, and that which arises from secret mantra is also this very same thing. Therefore, it is said to arise from the great principle of secret mantra, meaning it is accomplished from that very thing. Because of that very thing, it is said to be "possessed of the great principle of secret mantra," which means the nature of the Great Vajra Vehicle. Furthermore, one should speak from "Great Vairocana," and so forth, up to "the supreme, glorious, and blessed Mañjuśrī, the Bhagavan." Having obtained the ten perfections, namely, abiding in the ten perfections, the ten perfections being pure, namely, the manner of the ten perfections. That is to say, "having obtained the ten perfections" is taught through the doors of the paths of pure thought of having obtained the perfections. "Having obtained the ten perfections" also indicates the perfections, as stated in the Distinguishing the Middle from the Extremes: Generosity, discipline, patience, and diligence, meditation and wisdom, means, aspiration, power, and knowledge—these are considered the ten perfections. Thus it is. Among these, there are three types of generosity: generosity of material things, generosity of protection, and generosity of the Dharma. There are three types of discipline: the discipline of vows, the discipline of gathering virtuous dharmas, and the discipline of benefiting sentient beings. There are three types of patience: patience in accepting suffering, patience in not minding when others cause harm, and patience in being certain about the Dharma. There are three types of diligence: armor-like diligence, applying diligence, and diligence that is completely thorough. There are three types of meditation: abandoning faults, having abiding, and having mastery. There are three types of wisdom: wisdom arising from hearing, wisdom arising from thinking, and wisdom arising from meditation. There are three types of means: abandoning one's own faults, causing sentient beings to enter, and quickly manifesting complete enlightenment. There are three types of aspiration: being connected with one's own retinue, and with sentient beings.
