It means, "Sentient beings are actually unborn from the very beginning." In the phrase, "Because sentient beings arise, they are called heroes," the essence of the Dharmadhatu, which has no beginning or end, the Bhagavan Great Vajradhara, the sentient beings of the five families, arise with the power of previous habits to completely fulfill the wishes of all sentient beings, and therefore are referred to as heroes by approximation. Vajrasattva is indivisible. The most famous is what was taught by Vajradhara. Having explained Vajrasattva in this way, now, in order to show that if one knows the suchness of the great Samaya, one will attain accomplishment, it is said, "The Tantra of the Suchness of the Great Samaya." Because it is both a Samaya and great, it is a great Samaya, because it pervades the nature of the Dharmadhatu, which has no beginning or end. It is the suchness of the Great Vajradhara. Its suchness is the Samantabhadra of great joy. Having no beginning or end, etc., has already been explained. The Dharma nature of the three realms, seeing the manifestation of the three realms is Samsara. What is called Nirvana is the nature of the Nirvana of the Hearers and Solitary Buddhas, as well as the Tathagatas, therefore it is the ultimate truth. Therefore, it is Nirvana. Having thus shown the Tantra of the Suchness of the Great Samaya, now, in order to show that if one knows the nature of having no beginning and no end, one will attain accomplishment, it is said, "The Tantra Explaining the Nature of Having No Beginning and No End." The thing that has no beginning and no end is the nature of having no beginning and no end. The nature of having no beginning and no end is all compounded things that have not arisen from the beginning. That nature is to be explained, which is the phrase, "Space is the place of the great elements." The arising of space is the arising of space due to the destruction of walls, etc., having the characteristic of the absence of all things. Why? Because it says, "Because it is unborn." The unborn is the unborn, therefore, the destruction of walls, etc., is the arising of space, not the substance of space.

That which is called Vajrasattva is just like that. Just as when walls and other things are completely destroyed, it is assumed that space arises, so too, when the completely conceptualized thoughts that have not arisen from the yogi are destroyed, it is assumed that Vajrasattva arises. Thus, having shown the nature of having no beginning and no end, in order to show that accomplishment can be attained even by knowing only the supreme joy, thereafter, the Bhagavan spoke the tantra called "Explanation of the Nature of Supreme Joy," which has the nature of non-abiding nirvana. The yogi who has existed since before the Good Aeon and so forth, within the assembly of Vajra goddesses, experiencing and entering into all bliss and delight, the Bhagavan Vajrasattva is supreme joy, and its essence is the nature of supreme joy. As it is said, "Because of supreme joy, afflictions arise," the difference between the bliss and delight arising from the equal entry of the male and female faculties is supreme joy. For the sake of this meaning, all beings, that is, the realm of sentient beings with attachment, will turn into afflictions. If asked, what is the difference? The so-called "desire for pleasure" means that all those beings, because they desire pleasure, will be afflicted by the suffering of seeking. The so-called "in that" refers to those beings. The so-called "because of pure bliss" means for the sake of pure bliss. Before the Good Aeon and so forth, entering into the assembly of goddesses, the Bhagavan Vajrasattva, without beginning or end, arises, and in order to subdue the lord of the desire realm and so forth, he is born as the form of the Vajra lord of the desire realm. Thereafter, seeing that form, seeing the wisdom of the lord of the desire realm descend, one becomes accomplished as the lord of the eighth ground. Therefore, the Bhagavan, in order to subdue others who desire to attain the lordship of the desire realm, abides in the form of the Vajra lord of desire until the end of samsara. Thus, having shown the nature of supreme joy by the Bhagavan, in order to show that now accomplishment can be attained only by knowing the suchness of the essence, thereafter
