I, with a wrathful countenance like raging waves, and the vajra gaze that does not look outward, along with the essence of profound meaning, and various liberating words, refute and distinguish, etc. The supreme essence is called Hūṃ (Tibetan: ཧཱུཾ།, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Chinese literal meaning: 吽), because it is the very heart of the first bodhisattva, Vajrapani. The term 'Victorious over the Three Worlds' means victorious in various ways over all that obstructs and harms the three realms, hence the name. Hūṃ (Tibetan: ཧཱུཾ།, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Chinese literal meaning: 吽) indicates the nature of Vajrapani, meaning to completely transform all the untamed and afflictions. When Hūṃ (Tibetan: ཧཱུཾ།, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Chinese literal meaning: 吽) is uttered, the great powerful one, etc., become frightened and seek refuge in the Blessed One. If the Blessed One does not respond to the gods' plea for help, then he would become indifferent to the benefit of sentient beings, and thus would lack compassion. To avoid this, the Blessed One said to Vajrapani, 'Do not subdue excessively, because not all who are to be subdued can be completely subdued,' so in an intermediate tone, he said, 'Do not oppress them excessively.' Hūṃ (Tibetan: ཧཱུཾ།, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Chinese literal meaning: 吽) begins with a threatening gesture, and with this essence, the great gods, etc., are humbled and subdued. The meaning of the essence has already been explained. Therefore, give the subdued ones a chance to breathe, meaning that it is good to subdue the great gods, etc., in this way, but do not completely kill the subdued ones, but rather restore them. For these meanings, this vajra dharani is spoken. For the purpose of restoring the great gods, etc., the dharani mantra of Vajrapani is to bind them so that they will never be separated from body and life. Om is the heart of the king. The phrase Vajra Dram Cho Me Bhava (Tibetan: བཛྲ་དྲཾ་ཌྷོ་མེ་བྷ་བ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: वज्र द्रं चो मे भ व, Sanskrit Romanization: vajra draṃ co me bhava, Chinese literal meaning: Vajra Dram Cho Me Bhava) means that my vajra has manifested, and by manifesting wisdom, protect all. Raksha Sarva Na (Tibetan: རཀྵ་སརྦ་ན་, Sanskrit Devanagari: रक्ष सर्व न, Sanskrit Romanization: rakṣa sarva na, Chinese literal meaning: Protect All Na) is an exhortation, meaning to protect all. Svaha is well-spoken, used for the meaning of peace. Having restored them in this way, the Buddha, the Blessed One, also urged the great gods, etc., to heed the command of Vajrapani, and they also promised to do so. Then Vajrapani again revealed his own essence in order to control them.

Ra. This Hum Takihho shows the nature of the wrathful one of desire. Hum (Tibetan, Devanagari: हूँ, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ, literal Chinese meaning: Hum) is what makes it permanent. Taki is the nature of desire. Ha is Tibetan. Friends, please promise to take the vows of the mother with the mind of enlightenment, which is the wisdom of the exhaustion of afflictions and the wisdom of non-birth. Thinking and desiring that is the mind of enlightenment. It has five aspects: starting, striving, entering, abiding, and rising. Starting is first abiding in the wisdom of hearing, and wishing for enlightenment, 'May I become the supreme enlightenment, for the benefit of all sentient beings.' Striving is abiding in the stage of practice with faith, relying on scripture and reasoning, and believing with the wisdom of thought that phenomena and individuals are selfless, which means striving for emptiness. Entering is entering into experiencing the selflessness of phenomena, which means attaining the first bodhisattva ground. Abiding is abiding single-pointedly without wavering in how one has realized the meaning of the selflessness of phenomena. Rising is rising from abiding single-pointedly in the mind to accomplish a great accumulation of merit and to do many things for the benefit of sentient beings, and entering into vast practices. Such a mind of enlightenment, vowing not to abandon anything, is the vow of the mind of enlightenment. Or, combining the mind of enlightenment and the vows separately, the mind of enlightenment is as mentioned above, and that is to be taken. The vows are the vows of mantra, those who uphold the four families' samayas from below. 'Having made the mind of enlightenment firm,' and so on, means that the meaning of the gods and others abiding in vows is firm. Making the mind of enlightenment, as mentioned above, firm and solid bestows great happiness, both worldly and beyond, on all sentient beings. Therefore, the mind of enlightenment, the nature of desire, and the great powerful Vajrapani should not be disparaged, for this is the secret meaning of the vows, and it is not shown to those who do not have samaya. Then, the mantra for taking the vows was spoken. In that, Om means the previous meaning.
