The answers regarding the earth have been spoken. Next is the teaching of the arising of the Tathagata. The mind is the mind, meaning 'mind'. Since samsara has no beginning, the mind has no beginning. The cause of merit and wisdom, like the door of non-abiding nirvana, does not cease until the end of samsara, so it has no end. If this mind has no beginning and no end, why are birth and death distinguished? To this it is said: space is the nature of birth. Just as in the view of the Sutra School, space has no self-nature, yet birth and death are used as worldly terms. For example, cutting down trees and building in space. Or, building a wall and making space disappear. Here, building a house and cutting off space. Space is the nature of birth, which is a metaphorical expression. Just as form and so on are the source of appearance. Similarly, space is the nature of birth, which is the mind. Because all that is Samantabhadra, that is, the Buddha's pure land, inconceivable and so on, extremely beautiful things appear in that mind. Samantabhadra is not only appearance, but also the master of all, because that mind is also the essence of all sentient beings. That mind is the mind of bodhi, which is desired by all, so it is desire. That mind is the master of all beings, the lord of all worlds. Who is it that has become like that? Which mind is it? Who is the mind? The answer is, it is the mind of sentient beings. Just as mentioned above, it is the nature of the mind of all sentient beings. Why? Because it is taught that the mind is called 'mind'. Can other reasons also teach? No, because it can endure calmness. Its meaning is that because it cannot be moved by the confusion of the grasper and the grasped, that mind is stable. Why? Because the mind can focus on one point, so it is the true samadhi without error. Not wavering from samadhi, that is stability. To this, one should meditate from higher to higher.

Therefore, it means to be certain and definitively established. Because the mind is stable and certain, the mind itself becomes vajra. It is said that if one only seeks flaws, it will become like this. For example, "Because the mind has no form." This is (what they say). The answer is, "Just as from various consciousnesses." This is (what we say). When the connecting consciousness enters the mother's womb, due to the father's or mother's love and attachment, and feeling the comfort of the womb's position, the mind becomes focused, so from the formless mind, sentient beings with form are born. Another example is, "Just like the nagas dwelling in the sky." This is (what they say). Just as lightning and hail, which have form, arise from the formless mind of the nagas. Being so certain, therefore it is said to become vajra, meaning that the mind is stable, and without error, one meditates repeatedly, and after becoming certain, it becomes the nature of vajra. Thus, when the mind becomes vajra, through the blessing of the bodhisattva, it becomes Vajrasattva, that is, through the combination of stability and the blessing of the bodhisattva, it becomes Vajrasattva again. Because the vajra itself has the stable blessing power, one should believe that one has become the image of Vajrasattva. If one meditates deeply on this, one will become Bhagavan Vajrasattva. So, how should the previously mentioned combination of the bodhisattva's blessing be applied? (The Buddha) said, "Everything is the self-nature bodhisattva, lo!" This is (what the Buddha said). Bodhisattva means the nature of the mind, and the Bhagavan said that it is the self-nature of all things. Therefore, the bodhisattva also exists in my self-nature. Therefore, just like the self-nature of Vajrasattva, I also become Vajrasattva through the blessing of the bodhisattva's self-nature, and one should generate such pride! The word "lo" indicates the thoughts of others, meaning "Although I have already realized it, that is what the Bhagavan said." This is also the Bhagavan Bodhisattva, meaning that the self-nature of all self-natures is itself the Bhagavan Buddha and the self-nature of all bodhisattvas.
