It should be known that the size of the eighth part is a small portion in both height and width. Place an umbrella on top of the Dharma wheel, the size of which is one small portion in height, with half of that being the umbrella and half being the handle. To indicate the two deer, it is mentioned "the two sides of the wheel," etc. The two sides of the Dharma wheel, that is, the right and left sides directly in front, have two deer, namely Krishna (Sanskrit Devanagari: कृष्ण, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: kṛṣṇa, Chinese literal meaning: black) and Sarika (Sanskrit Devanagari: सारिका, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: sārikā, Chinese literal meaning: myna), two deer that abide equally and evenly. How do they abide? "Relying on the deer seat, facing the wheel," meaning they abide relying on the upper part of the deer seat, and clearly face the Dharma wheel, sitting and looking towards the Dharma wheel when drawing. How far should they abide? "Not too close and not too far," meaning there should be a distance of one small portion between the Dharma wheel and the two deer. To indicate the vajra and jewel handle, "vajra jewel" etc. are mentioned. The staff is symbolized by the vajra and jewels, and the size is as stated in "that size" etc., the height of the deer and two small portions in width. That is, rely on the outer line of the deer's back with one part removed. Below that, make a handle with one small portion, and above that, make half of one small portion into a jewel and half into a vajra. To indicate the banner, "banner and bell" etc. are mentioned. "Having banner and bell," meaning on one banner hanging from the handle on top of the vajra jewel, a bell is suspended and encircles; the second banner is hung at the end of the deer seat, near the top of the pillar. Therefore, previous scholars believed that the two sides of the deer seat should be decorated with banners. In addition, they should also be hung on both sides of the outer edge of the net and half-net cloth. Counting all of them, twenty-four banners are hung for each mandala. Here, the banners are only shown symbolically. Vajra banners, ribbons, jewels, and garlands of flowers, etc., should be offered according to what is appropriate for the deity.
