"The basis is the seed." This means contemplating, "Is the ālaya-vijñāna the seed?" This is examining "Is this it?", mixed with such speculation, those are still states of not having realized one's own mind nature. Why? Because it causes many such speculations to arise. So, if one knows what kind of state is the measure of having realized, what is it? It is said, "At the end of the Dharma, one realizes." And so on, understand it this way. Whoever, after realizing the meaning of the two kinds of selflessness, becomes free from the defilement of grasping and being grasped, that is realization at the end of the Dharma, it is the nature of the habit residing after perfecting the two accumulations. Therefore, accumulating the habits of the six pāramitās, from the first bhūmi to the tenth bhūmi, the seeds of similar causes such as generosity are habits, and because it possesses three correctnesses, it is pāramitā. Because it possesses six aspects, it is the six perfections. Accumulating its habits is to make it stable, or to hold it, that is the meaning of "habit". "The completely pure sentient being" means that because it is free from all the faults of realizing selflessness, it is also pure, and among all sentient beings in the world and beyond the world, it is the most supreme, so it is great. "Is that not the afflicted ālaya-vijñāna?" means that the completely pure great mind is not as described above, but the nature of accumulating the two accumulations from a long time, appearing as such. Therefore, "The great accumulation of merit and wisdom." means it is immeasurable. "Accumulated from a long time." means accumulated from countless eons ago until the existence of samsara. "Like the full moon." means that like the perfect circle of the moon, it is naturally bright. "Pure and pure, without defilement." means because it is free from the two obscurations. "Therefore, in order to perfect the accumulations." This means that in order to perfect the two accumulations, it is indicated in this way: "One's own mind is like the full moon." means that because it arises from the perfection of the two accumulations, one's own mind nature is as perfect and vast as a great full moon.

Having shown it in this way, it is merely an appearance, and it is not characterized by being real like the moon of the world. Why is that? Because "it is neither existent nor real." This is because all dharmas are empty of inherent existence, so they are free from characteristics and have no substance. Therefore, "it is not spoken of as like the moon either," which means that it is not to be regarded as such, since it is not characterized by appearing as real like the moon, and is not something that can be grasped or obstructed. Because the two accumulations are complete and in accordance with the Dharma, it is said, "The great accumulation of merit and wisdom is spoken of as complete like the moon." It should be said like that. "On the mandala of one's own mind-moon," which means that, for the great Bodhisattva who accomplishes all purposes, by accumulating the two kinds of merit and wisdom, the essence blessed by the two accumulations, seeing one's own mind as like a mandala of the moon, a feeling of joy and satisfaction arises, and thus a thought of expression arises, and he speaks these words. What did he say? "Lord Bhagavan, I," and so on, meaning that because he has conquered all afflictions and the hosts of demons, and possesses perfect qualities, he has become the protector of all. I say that the stains of afflictions accumulated from beginningless time are all temporary, completely purified, and free from the faults of grasping and being grasped, and thus I see my own mind as a great mandala of the moon. After saying this, all the Tathagatas replied again, "Then all the Buddhas said," and so on. "This good mind, which was not born before," means that the nature of the mind has not arisen from the beginning, and it does not arise from the power of the assembly of causes and conditions. Although it is the very essence of the mind of Samantabhadra, "yet by suddenly arising afflictions," means that it is obscured by the habitual tendencies of temporary afflictions. "Complete Bodhicitta training," means that the pure Bodhicitta of the ground, which has been corrupted by temporary afflictions, is trained by the power of the manifestation of the habit of mainly believing in selflessness. That itself becomes a complete accumulation, so in the center of what appears as the mandala of the moon, the Bodhicitta of the fruit should be meditated upon.
