It is said to hold it with... until the completion of Samadhi and recitation, or to hold it as much as possible. The effort of recitation should also be prevented, the effort is memory, and its holding is also between the completion of recitation, or as much as possible, how to Prevent focusing on other external objects other than the form of the deity thought of. This holding is complete holding, cutting off the continuity and preventing it, which is to hold the life force extremely. At this time, it should be known that the holding of the mind called "I" is the holding of memory. If so, what will be revealed? Like the mind is like a king, surrounded by the retinue of memory, Samadhi, attention, etc., it is considered to be riding on the horse of life. If you can hold the horse of life, then the mind is like the retinue of the king, and everything will be held. Here, compared to others, the effort of life is the prevention of life. By preventing this, the mind of "I" including memory, wisdom, attention, etc. will surely be held, so it is said. Life is what is said in the middle. As it is said, temporarily, here also the life of the body is considered to be only breath. Like holding the mind, also hold the breath. The mind is held, and the breath is also held, so as not to be distracted. The breath flows in and out, do not let it go, but make it your own control, pull it and do not let it go. From where and how does the wind of breath flow, and how to hold it, how long to hold it, and what kind of metaphors need to be told. To this, from where does it flow? It flows in and out from the mouth and nose, and the holes of the senses, and all the pores. How does it flow? When the mind is distracted and relaxed, it flows for a long time, and when it is tight, it flows for a short time. Outwardly, the exhalation stops completely, and inwardly, it enters up to the front of the navel. How to hold it? Like a turtle retracting its limbs inward, and holding it like a tongue drinking water, that is, retracting the limbs inward, not like a farmer irrigating the field with a tongue, drumming breath inward. It should not be held and relaxed like the breath of turning over in sleep, but should be held and equal. How long to hold it? At first

Place the rope in samadhi and tie it gently. This should be done until the samadhi and recitation are completed. If this is not done, the fault will be that the air will stagnate, causing pain in the heart, heaviness of the body, fear, and mental confusion. If the breath is held too tightly, this fault will also occur. Conversely, it shows that samadhi cannot be achieved. It is said that samadhi cannot be achieved without holding the breath like an animal. This is to withdraw the life force of the whole body. Like this, the way to withdraw the life force of the body by such means is the method. In this way, thinking of drawing the breath into the five senses and all the pores means that all the senses are focused inward and converge inward, which is to prevent the senses from scattering to external objects, that is, to converge inward with the mind. Saying "the heart must not exhale breath." It means that the essence of examining the mind, which will appear below, should not be spoken in words, but should be recited with the mind. Saying "abandoning the discomfort of body and mind" is the opposite of meditation, namely lethargy, sleep, distraction, excitement, sinking, floating, etc., just as the ways of entering meditation written by the venerable Khenpos extensively explain the discomfort of body and mind, which are the opposite of the obstacles to samadhi, these should be rejected. Saying "make the two enter harmoniously" means that if the causes of the two are not the same, the meditation of the mind cannot truly arise. Because it is impossible to enter the object of focus, the causes of the two minds must be made equal and consistent, and the two must live in harmony in order to enter this way. Saying "naturally accomplished" means to understand the word "Batita Siddhi (藏文:བ་ཏི་ཏ་སིདྡྷི་,梵文天城体:,梵文罗马拟音:,汉语字面意思:)" in this way. By reciting this mantra, can one realize it as one examines one's own mind? Or, by the power of this mantra, can one accomplish it as one wishes? It means that all mantras should be understood in the same way. The opponent says: Then, like this, examining the mind, the difference between mantra and sutra, and the order that can be enumerated, according to the Kadampa's view, some

Some become ashes, and some become bodies, conforming to the measure of one but contradicting another. Some do not contradict another, but do not conform to the measure of one. These forms also bring harm to each other. In this case, what should be grasped? Examining one's own mind is also at this time. With the reason that shows the selflessness of phenomena and persons, abandon the clinging to self and what belongs to self, as well as the defilements of aggregates, elements, sources, the grasped and the grasper, etc. Thus and so forth are proclaimed. The phrase "in this case" also agrees with the meaning of the scriptures and tantras of this vehicle, and is also a word that should be added to the context of this practice. Knowing the reason that shows the selflessness of persons and phenomena is what is said in the treatises and commentaries composed by previous teachers, and as it is shown in the sutras that are the source of those treatises, such as looking at existence, such as looking at non-existence, the characteristics are shown as such, so that in the sequential arrangement where the two extremes of reasons that establish one tenet and destroy another are eliminated, whoever believes in the selflessness of phenomena and persons is convinced of being free from the grasper and the grasped. The so-called clinging to self and what belongs to self is the examination by clinging to the inner phenomena as the grasper and the grasped. The so-called aggregates are similar to a heap of grain, namely the aggregate of form, the aggregate of feeling, the aggregate of perception, the aggregate of formation, and the aggregate of consciousness. There are twelve sources. The grasped is the attention to different objects. The grasper is the mind. Knowing in this way itself abandons defilements, showing that one should not cling to this. Slightly contemplating it as being like the sky refers to the characteristic of that very mind that has abandoned the defilements of not discriminating the grasper and the grasped from before. Just as the sky, although it can be examined, is not established as a substance, just as it is devoid of all extremes of elaboration, that very samadhi of non-discrimination is the characteristic of all discriminations being pacified, and that very mind that has not become the end of anything should be believed to be like the sky. That samadhi that should be believed in this way,
