Having examined that the nature of knowledge and the knowable is such, one should abandon those actual practices of outsiders who regard bathing and purification as pure. Why? Because only through that can everything become pure, but not through others. As it is said in the scriptures: "The river of wisdom is the best of baths." Thus, it is shown that only non-discrimination is the main thing. Well, even in this scripture itself, there is a statement that "one should purify oneself with bathing and purification," and in other tantras, there are also many ways of showing things like bathing and anointing the limbs with fragrance. If those were not so, then it would not be appropriate to say those things. However, if that is the case, then why does the teacher show this here? It is said: In other cases, in order to conform to such a world, and for the benefit and happiness of one's own body, one should do as the ritual of practicing cleanliness is shown. Thus it is said, in order to tame those who practice cleanliness in the world, to conform to them, and to strengthen the elements of one's own body, and to pacify diseases and harms, cleanliness and so on are permitted, and there is no prohibition. Others say that if that is the case, then it is reasonable to talk about those who abide in the yoga of their own deity, if they perform bathing and purification and so on. Some also say that it is not so. So, how can one clearly understand the meaning of that? It is said: Alternatively, the tantra that manifests the pride of the samaya-mind of one's own deity does not require external cleanliness and so on. Thus it is said, and so on. Above, the way of that has been shown, but in order to show other parts that are different from that, it is said "also." Those yogis who manifest the great mudra of any of their own supreme deities are said to not need bathing and purification and so on, because they abide in the nature of the deity of the three doors, and therefore have no impure stains. Therefore, one should generate the mindfulness of recollection, that is, one should always remember the yogi who abides in the great mudra of the deity. Therefore, it is also said in the tantra: Clean

"There is no need to tie the straw mat here," and so on. Having thus thoroughly and completely understood, it means to regard all dharmas as being free from elaboration, and to have faith that one's own deity's mudra, abiding in the nature of the samayasattva, is pure. Now, the methods for contemplating the samayasattva in a perfect place, and so on, will be explained. To this, the debater says: If there are also instances where the practice of mahamudra, and so on, is explicitly stated in other tantras to have the same characteristics and order, should one learn from following those tantras? Or does this tantra also definitively show the order of places that one seeks through one's own efforts? Answer: It is said, "Any particular place that is in accordance with my mind," and so on. Although there are cases in other tantras where it is explained from one perspective and explicitly stated, in this context, it should not be viewed in that way. Rather, it is said that any place that the practitioner himself enters and becomes pure should be examined. To clarify this, it is said, "Residing in temples, and so on," that is, any place such as a temple, dwelling, garden, forest, cave, solitary place, and so on, is acceptable. Having thus resided in such a place, the Sugatas who abide in the directions and times, refers to the Buddhas who abide in the ten directions and have passed into the three times. The word "and so on" includes his sons and retinue, but here, for the time being, it refers to the deities who reside in the great mandala such as the Vajradhatu. The word "and so on" also includes the deities who are said to be not completely pure there. "The Lama of Lamas" means that all the deities are Lamas, but among them, this tantra is also the root of all tantras, therefore, the deities mentioned here are also clearly the most supreme among all the Buddhas. Some say that other deities are born from the Paramitas, so they are not considered Lamas, while the deities mentioned here are born from the nature of wisdom, therefore, they are considered their Lamas. It is said, "I prostrate," which means to prostrate with the prostrations that are mentioned in this very tantra and that will appear below.
