It is also the supreme cause of becoming, because of the habit of meditating on the mudra. Another saying is that some say that the root of all vows is the great mudra. Because of being accustomed to it, it is said that the Buddhas who possess the five ornaments of the head, the supreme cause of accomplishing them is the great mudra. What is meant by "By what body is everything stable?" is that because of the habit of meditating on the mudra, by what body is everything stable, becoming like a vajra. What is meant by "Therefore, praise the mudra" is that because it has such a meaning, it is proclaimed by that name. Therefore, the reason why the bodies of the noble ones can be accomplished and obtained like a vajra is because it is called a mudra and studied. What is meant by "collected by the excellent nature" is that "that nature" refers to the ultimate nature. What is meant by "excellent nature" is that from the ultimate truth, in the way of conventional truth, the deities such as the Vajradhatu and the four mudras are shown, which is the distinction between the characteristics of the ultimate truth and the conventional truth. What is meant by "collected" is that these are gathered together in one place here, arranged in order and explained. Up to this point, the distinction between the nature and characteristics of what is called "that nature" has been explained. Now, the teachings on the method of the Acharya himself taking the superior deity, and the meaning of the vows to be guarded, abandoned, and upheld will be explained. Therefore, what is meant by "Therefore, the great being knows this" is that "therefore" is a humble word for the meaning mentioned above, meaning that those practitioners who are fortunate enough to enter such a tantra or practice are those who have great accumulations of merit, and have uncommon karma and fortune, so considering that they will attain the state of great beings, they say so. What is meant by "knowing this" is that from the great wisdom of all-knowing, by the force of past aspirations and the power of great compassion, in the way of conventional truth, the deities such as the Vajradhatu are manifested, and through this way, if the practitioner practices in this way, they will be able to accomplish it, so it is said that if they practice these, the method to quickly accomplish it is to show the four, such as the great mudra.

After understanding those characteristics in that way, it is called a phrase. Thus, the practitioner, having understood those characteristics such as the four seals and so on that were previously shown, then after that, from the teacher, the support of one's own chosen deity and the method of practice are shown, and the items of those vows that have not been taken and should be protected are to be explained. What are those? It is said, "Certainly, for the benefit of the great assembly of sentient beings," and so on. "For the benefit of the great assembly of sentient beings" means that the practitioner, without interruption, in order to benefit many beings, holds the thought of wanting to accomplish the desired attainments of any noble ones. "Desiring to attain the supreme state" means that those of the lower vehicle lineage do not have the thought of attaining the bliss of nirvana for themselves alone, but rather, having attained the supreme state of unsurpassed enlightenment, they have the thought of benefiting many beings, which is what is meant by "desiring to attain." "The Sugata with the sons" means that the Tathagatas who appear in the three times are not like sentient beings who are bound by dependent origination and are born in the four types of birth, but rather, they are born from the realization of the Dharmadhatu with completely pure body, speech, and mind, and because they possess sons of that lineage, they are called "with the sons." "Having offered oneself" means that for all the Sugatas who possess such meaning, in order to attain that meaning and practice closely, the practitioner should offer his own body, speech, and mind, and know that the method will appear below. "My chosen deity" means the deity that I am to practice. Those lords of the world, who have power, enjoyment, and various kinds of miracles, and are great, and those who are arrogant and conceited are also gods, but those who have entered the gate of the Mahayana do not practice those, because in order to prevent all extremes of views, therefore, the word "sentient being" is spoken. "Whatever" means transcending the world.
