is the tenth (root downfall). It is said that. That is, the stubborn ones are the demons and the heretics, as well as the opponents, the arrogant, and the heretics, etc. For those who cannot be subdued by the correct decree, and those who are without the mind of enlightenment and compassion, to subdue them with compassion and miraculous powers; for those who cannot be subdued by other means, to liberate them with compassion, etc., not doing things that can obtain great benefits in this life and the next; and being happy with those who are harmful to the lama, the Three Jewels, and ordinary sentient beings. For these people, the four things to be gathered with compassion, and to subdue them with various skillful means, if they are not subdued with miraculous powers and fierce actions, it is a downfall. Therefore, in the Chakrasamvara it is said: "For those who are extremely angry and fierce, pacification will not benefit, with the combination of wisdom and means, all the Tathagatas subdue them." It is said like that. Also, "With the power of great compassion, one will not abandon the stubborn, subdue them with miraculous liberation, etc., otherwise one abandons the lama and the Three Jewels." It is said like that. It should also be known how many combinations become the main practice. Rising from defilements and confessing to the Sangha, performing the deeds of the Tathagatas in various ways. The similar ones are gathered together. The explanation of the tenth downfall is completed. Now wanting to explain the definition of the eleventh downfall, so it is said: "For those dharmas that are free from names and so on, to conceptualize there is the eleventh (root downfall)." It is said like that. The dharmas that are free from names and so on, are beyond the expression of words, are the realm of non-conceptual wisdom, beyond the realm of knowable and expressible. This is also established by scripture and reasoning. The scripture is established from the tantras and sutras of the Great Vehicle. It is said thus: "Things are neither from self nor from other, neither from both nor from non-birth. Birth and cessation, elaboration are all empty, existence and non-existence are beyond the realm of knowledge and expression. Knowing the limits of one and many, momentary parts are devoid of examination. Form and emptiness are not different, all pervasive afflictions are completely purified. Attachment, aversion, affliction, self-view, etc., unborn all-knowing also, nature is one without difference, this is the ultimate truth." It is said like that.

Furthermore, according to the Perfection of Wisdom, all phenomena are like dreams and illusions. All phenomena of Nirvana are also like dreams and illusions. If there is a phenomenon that surpasses Nirvana, it is also like a dream and an illusion. The reasoning is: external and internal objects, in the ultimate sense, have no inherent existence. They do not arise from themselves, nor from others, nor from both, nor without a cause. They should be regarded like reflections, etc., and are devoid of self, etc. Inner consciousness is neither existent nor non-existent, and is free from the extremes of permanence and annihilation. Otherwise, it would be harmed by scripture and reason. Thus it is said. Master Aryadeva said: If one clings to existence, that is not the characteristic of illusion. If one clings to non-existence, that is not the characteristic of illusion. If one clings to the middle way, that is not the characteristic of illusion. All of that is without inherent existence, so the Great Vehicle proclaims, but it is contrary to self-blessing. Thus it is said, therefore, the establishment of phenomena that are free from names and conventions, etc., must be truly established through scripture and reason. In terms of reasoning, the great scholar Nagarjuna, from the collection of Madhyamaka reasoning, extensively determined it. Therefore, if I were to elaborate on it here, it would be meaningless, so I have not elaborated. If one clings to the extremes of permanence and annihilation, that is a downfall. One should also understand the transformation of the branch, time, and essence. The way to rise is to confess to the assembly, turn away from that, and cultivate familiarity. This is the explanation of the eleventh downfall. Now, wishing to explain the characteristics of the twelfth downfall, it is said: Causing sentient beings with faith to become disheartened is the twelfth. This means that yogis who lack faith and respect for beginners, etc., who have newly entered the path, act carelessly with body and speech. Because of this, they displease others, slander the Vajrayana, do not allow those who have not entered to enter, and prevent those who have entered, which becomes a downfall. One should also understand the transformation of the branch, time, and essence. The faults of the branch, etc., are purified from defilements according to the difference between heavy and light. One can confess to the assembly, or confess to a single holy being before the mandala. Subtle faults are guarded by the mind, and then taken up again. Place and
