Since there are many explanations of the fruit of the ground, I will explain it in brief. After accumulating merit for many eons, nectar drips into a precious vessel. If you do not constantly exert yourself, why are you intoxicated by the poison of desire? This statement also shows that the meaning is established. From many eons, the mind has been thoroughly trained, merit has been accumulated, and it has been accomplished through aspiration. Because of this, one becomes like a precious vessel, but instead of drinking nectar, one is bound by the rope of desire and intoxicated by the poison of afflictions. Therefore, such a path is very difficult to obtain and should be constantly followed. Those who have attained the Great Vehicle Prajnaparamita are also said to be irreversible. That itself is also difficult to obtain. One has shown reverence to the Buddhas, generated the root of virtue from that, and been protected by a virtuous friend. This is a vessel for listening. Thus it is said. Therefore, with reverence, one should constantly follow this difficult-to-obtain path. This is a brief explanation of the fruit of discipline that arises from many tantras of skillful means and wisdom. Therefore, it is difficult for beings in times of strife, whose minds are disturbed by afflictions, to abide by vows and commitments. In such times, abiding by vows and commitments and remaining in equipoise, even meditating for a moment is said to be more meaningful than abiding for an eon in other times. Moreover, the characteristics of beings in times of strife were taught by the Bhagavan in the tantra of the first noble one: "The people of Jambudvipa in times of strife are especially prone to sinful deeds, have short lives and shallow wisdom. Vajra acharyas also perversely indulge in the root of virtue, monks also indulge in committing the ten unwholesome deeds, householders also enjoy the property of the Three Jewels, and scholars also expound tantras that have not been heard, and with pride, they make commentaries on the tantras, and because they show the meaning in a perverted way, they will be prone to hell. The ignorant villagers also, with wrong faith, overthrow the banners of the all-knowing ones, and instead, they will revere and honor householders, and...

Disciples, too, with minds of hatred, will find fault with the guru, and being attached to possessions, will praise and honor even those who are not true gurus. They will not perform the service to the guru as taught by the Buddha. The preachers will engage in the ten non-virtuous actions, and the practitioners will also be attached to food and drink, and women will be extremely attached to desire. Furthermore, it is said in the scriptures that the teachings are as the previous tradition. Therefore, the yogi should strive, this is the final advice. Various tantras and Mahayana sutras, and the intentions of all the holy ones, and many other treatises, this explanation, like a personal instruction, is without the blemish of extensive commentary, called "Lamp for the Path to Enlightenment," arising together with the lineage of gurus, with faith and compassion as the foremost, from various tantras and the intentions of the guru, having examined various aspects, by whatever merit is obtained from the labor, may all the departed gurus, vajra brothers, whatever vows are broken, with the guru and the deities as witnesses, may our vows be purified, may all become vessels for accomplishments, adorned with common and supreme qualities, may all beings become Vajradharas. The extensive commentary on the root downfalls of the Vajrayana, called "Lamp for the Path," together with its beneficial branches, composed by the teacher Jampal Drakpa, is completed. At Nyangro Taktsal, it was translated when Dīpaṃkara arrived in Tibet. In the city of Purisha, it was carefully reviewed and respectfully translated by Acharya Upādha Śrīvajraśīla and the translator, the monk Tson-dru Sengge. For many years in a Nepalese home, I, Rinchen Drakpa, came, and also consulted old commentary models, and made very careful corrections. The Extensive Explanation of the Root Downfalls of the Vajrayana, Jampal Drakpa.
