Because delusion is not eliminated, the black rope is like a poisonous snake. Furthermore, those who are frightened by their own knowledge are like a clumsy painter who draws an extremely terrifying image of a wrathful deity. When he sees it himself, he is terrified. Similarly, some people are frightened simply by seeing the knowledge that arises from themselves. One should understand that the knower and the known are the same, because one clings to the known as truly existent. A good friend, a noble person, is one who, even though there are no things, clings to the known as having things. For example, the painter draws a beautiful woman with a name, and when he looks at it, he develops attachment to his own painting. Some yogis, relying on external objects, believe that appearance and emptiness are inseparable, and relying on internal objects, believe that clarity and emptiness are inseparable. Therefore, the two objects are bound by faults. To clarify this, it will be shown by the example of being bound by five qualities. Because one does not realize this, one cannot be liberated from the cycle of clinging to external and internal objects, and is therefore like a fool. The realized yogi knows that both internal and external depend on conditions, and therefore things are not established. Thus, not realizing is bound by clinging, and realizing is not bound by clinging. Some say that one should be attached to the happiness that arises from external objects. The objects of the external senses, such as form, and the internal objects of consciousness, such as happiness, are similar to emptiness. Do not be bound by clinging to objects. The ultimate truth is not something to be meditated upon, therefore, be diligent in this. Alas! The ignorant one speaks like shooting an arrow. If you do not believe this, then the five metaphors are common and easy to understand. The uncommon objects are: clinging to the taste of happiness like a fish, clinging to the mandala of gods and goddesses like a butterfly, experiencing wisdom and primordial awareness is a metaphor, but in reality it is like an elephant enjoying it, clinging to the sound of emptiness like a bee. These four indicate experience. Fish and butterfly, elephant and bee. With the instructions of the noble guru, the method of not being bound even when enjoying objects is: the instructions are like the sun, the objects are like scattered flowers, and mindfulness is like a bee, it is on the objects.
