Thus it is said. Some recite that one should have faith in the lama. Here, the three respects to the lama are shown to be done through the three doors of body, speech, and mind, or repeated for the sake of extreme respect. These three are directed towards the initial abandonment. Guarding the samaya means not abandoning the samaya, as it is said in the "Secret Moon Bindu": Because of desiring the meaning of mantra, one should diligently guard the samaya. Otherwise, the meaning of the mantra of the mantra practitioner will not be accomplished, and the gods will also lose their samaya. Even if one prays, it will not be granted. This world has great suffering, and the hells of the next world, those who desire to practice samaya, will obtain it through the nature of ignorance. That student is also the same, with inferior wisdom, he will obtain suffering, and the meaning of the mantra will not mature. The supreme bliss of the gods will never be given to a student without samaya. Therefore, samaya is the most important, and it should be given after it is done initially. Thus it is said. Steadfastly generate compassion, which means distinguishing the order of steadfastness with compassion. Reciting mantras, fire offerings, and the like, as well as meditation and offerings, the mantra will be accomplished through compassion, otherwise it will become extreme affliction. Thus it is said. Completely abandon all faults, which means not doing things that slander the world and the scriptures, as it is said: Dancing and offerings, as well as dancing, singing and drumming are criticized by the people, excessive pride, questioning and greed, gamblers and others gather to watch, untimely sleep and speaking of non-accomplishment, evil scriptures and pleasant broken reading, attachment and hatred, arrogance and haughtiness, holding grudges and laziness and deceit are abandoned, meat, alcohol, chives, onions and garlic, grain oil sesame and radish suran, food of ghosts and offering cakes to the gods, the offering cake made by Gulang is not eaten. I say that the food of the mantra practitioner is the three white things, roots, stems, trunks, fruits, vegetables, yogurt and barley, as well as milk and butter, grain oil oil residue curd cheese, tsampa are all food. Thus it is said, and there are others, at that time.
