The wise are those who establish, but apart from name, there is nothing at all, like the sky. Similarly, the lord of secret mantras is merely a term. It is not fire, water, or wind, nor earth or sun, nor moon or any other stars. It is not day or night, not birth or cessation, not death or decay, not a moment or a short time, nor years or anything like that, nor destruction or formation. There is no number of kalpas, nor does it arise from good or non-good, nor does it exist in the middle. Those who desire the state of omniscience should constantly strive for that which is free from all kinds of diverse thoughts and does not exist anywhere. Thus it is said. Bodhi is said to be non-conceptual, luminous by nature. Bodhi is the nature of space, abandoning all discriminations. Thus it is said. The mind of its essence is the mind of bodhi. Again, Shariputra, that mind is the nature of bodhi, therefore it is called the mind of bodhi. Thus it is said. Introduction means that all the instructions are given here. Chapter means as before. Explanation of the seventeenth chapter. Now, in order to summarize the text, it is said, "The great lord of secrets, the excellent Vajra family," and so on. Yakshas, those who hold fierce secret mantras, are secret. Because they are born as the lords of those to be subdued, they are lords. Furthermore, because they are empowered to hold the secret meaning of all the Tathagatas, they are lords of secrets. The distinction of that power is extremely excellent, therefore they are great. Because it arises from the sign of the vajra, it is the vajra family. Or, because it is born into the family of yaksha Vajrapani and others, it is the vajra family. Because it possesses the qualities previously shown, it is excellent. Therefore, it is said thus. Why is it said thus? It is said, "Nata Kuvera," these are the extremely numerous illusions of the women of the goddesses, and because they perform extremely terrifying dances, they are the dancers Nata, that is, the retinue of demons. They turn all beings away from the path and destroy them, therefore they are Danpa, that is, Ku.

The action of is to be turbulent, therefore. In order to dispel that, it is called Vira, so it is said. It should be added. Why is it considered that the hordes of demons are reversed? It is said that in order to show that the fruits of the actions of Indra, which have become various manifestations, are not wasted, and for the sake of ten necessities, as it is said in the chapter of the noble transcendent world: 'O son of the victor! Having seen the power of these ten meanings, the Bodhisattva who dwells in the supreme position of essence enlightenment shows the subjugation of demons. What are the ten? Thus, in the boundless realm of all afflictions, for sentient beings who are fond of fighting and warfare, in order to truly show the greatness of the power of the Bodhisattva, the Bodhisattva shows the subjugation of demons. In order to cut off the doubts and hesitations of people and gods who are in doubt and hesitation, he shows the subjugation of demons. In order to fully mature the hordes of demons, he shows the subjugation of demons. In order to gather people and gods who are fond of fighting and warfare, and in order to subdue the power of all the assembled gods and people, he shows the subjugation of demons. In order to fully show that the power of the Bodhisattva is invincible, he shows the subjugation of demons. In order to make other sentient beings happy and joyful, he shows the subjugation of demons. In order to have compassion for future beings, he shows the subjugation of demons. In order to fully show the actions of demons between the essence of enlightenment, and in order to fully show that the Bodhisattva transcends all the boundaries of demons,

Performing activities. Compassion is rare and peaceful, possessing the splendor of nine burning dances. Therefore, it is called Nataku because of the dance. Ku (ཀུ་) means Kurbānati, which means author or teacher. It delights beings on the supreme path, hence it is the dance, the most excellent. Therefore, this is the most excellent dancer, hence in the Vajrapani Abhisheka Tantra it is said: "Come, Natakubera (ཚུར་ཤོག་ཎ་ཊ་ཀུ་བེར།)!" Shakyamuni Buddha himself called him by this beautiful name, and this statement is not inappropriate. Therefore, in this tantra, in order to fully demonstrate those who see the ten meanings of freedom, and the power of secret mantras, it shows the unparalleled subjugation of demons, and teaches future beings to practice such a state. In times of strife, afflicted by the five degenerations, may I, with my inferior intellect, who have gathered and analyzed the meanings here, not be hated by the glorious Yama, and may I alone attain the supreme state of great bliss! This concludes the difficult commentary on the great king of tantras called "The Glorious Black Enemy of Yama," entitled "The Jewel Lamp," briefly composed by the great scholar Ratnākaraśānti. Acharya Vinayacandra and the translator Bhikshu Dharmajnana translated, revised, and finalized it with devotion. Chapter Seventeen, Explanation of Bodhicitta.
