Thus, it is stated, "What is Vajra?" etc. Holding onto the concept of Nirvana as being either substantial or insubstantial is a great detriment, therefore Yama (Tibetan: གཤིན་རྗེ་), and that which destroys this view is the enemy. Not understanding the true nature of all phenomena is ignorance (Tibetan: གཏི་མུག་), but because of its mirror-like wisdom, it destroys the view of substantiality and insubstantiality, hence it is Vajra. It should be combined with skillful means, and this can be applied to other explanations as well. Nirvana that is not in accordance with this is Yama, and that which destroys it is the enemy. In what kind of activity, without abandoning all sentient beings and without attachment, is stinginess (Tibetan: སེར་སྣ་). This also destroys the lack of compassion, and because it takes everything as its own with the wisdom of equality, it is Vajra. In some scriptures, the sound of Yama is read as "slander Vajra." There, it is explained as follows: Whoever refutes those who externally assert substantiality, who can refute the logic and scriptural authority of speech, is called slander. Having refuted them, it abides in the wisdom of equality established by one's own doctrine, and because it destroys evil sects, it is Vajra. Nirvana that does not conform to the Dharma is Yama, and that which destroys it is called the enemy. Attachment to the affairs of sentient beings is desire (Tibetan: འདོད་ཆགས་), but it is also the nature of individual discriminating wisdom, therefore it is liberated from ordinary things and destroys ordinary conceptualizations, hence it is Vajra. Attachment to the extremely peaceful Nirvana is Yama, and that which destroys it is called the enemy. Being deluded in pursuing one's own happiness and craving for the affairs of others is jealousy, which is the wisdom of accomplishing the activity of emptiness. It also destroys attachment to one's own benefit, hence it is Vajra. Because of hating the grasper and the grasped, etc., it is hatred, but it destroys the clinging to reality, hence it is called Vajra. Nirvana that abandons compassion is Yama, and in order to dispel this, the nature of the Vajra of hatred, the extremely pure wisdom of the sphere of reality, that is called the enemy. The demon of the aggregates is Yama, and that which destroys it is the enemy. It also holds a hammer in order to destroy the view of the perishable collection and the obscurations of knowledge, hence it is a hammer.

Because it is indivisible, the vajra is also the same. In order to destroy the view of clinging and the obscurations of afflictions, it holds a vajra scepter, because the vajra scepter itself cannot be destroyed by others, so it is a vajra. The demon of afflictions is Yama. Destroying it itself is called an enemy. Because it is not defiled by wrong views and the obscurations of birth, it teaches the Dharma, so it is a lotus, which itself is indestructible, so it is a vajra. The demon of death is Yama, destroying it itself is called an enemy. In order to cut off the obscurations of clinging to superior views and karma, it is a sword, which is also indestructible, so it is a vajra. The demon of the sons of gods is Yama, ending it is called an enemy. Because it is not destroyed by unfavorable sides, great compassion is a vajra. Itself radiates infinite light to all beings to be tamed, so it is the radiating mother. Some scriptures recite it as Vajrasattva Mother, there, because of thinking without obstruction for the benefit of those to be tamed, it is called Vajrasattva Mother. That is the nature of ignorance, the Blessed One himself appears there. Indivisible wisdom is vajra, it itself arises as completely pure wisdom, it is the sow-faced mother. That is also the Blessed One Vajradhara himself appearing there. Indivisible wisdom is vajra, it also proclaims the melodious sound of Dharma in accordance with the inclinations of those to be tamed, so it is Saraswati. That is also the nature of the Blessed One's desire, appearing in this way. Indestructible wisdom is vajra, it also offers heads and other limbs for the benefit of sentient beings, so it is Gauri. That is also the Blessed One, the jealous Yama, the executioner, the enemy himself appearing there. Some scriptures recite it as Vajra Sword Mother, there, because it holds the secret sword that cuts off the enemies of the body, speech, and mind of the Buddhas, so it is Sword Mother, meaning the nature of body, speech, and mind secret. In this way, among the three types of deities: the deities of the mandala, the deities who listen to the Dharma, and the deities who are in accordance, the deities of the mandala themselves are shown as the deities who listen to the Dharma, in order to show that the remaining retinue such as the deities who listen to the Dharma are all gathered together, so it says "etc.", the deities mentioned earlier
