As it is said, whatever Bodhisattva abandons the teaching of the Hearer Vehicle, or teaches the Solitary Realizer Vehicle, or abandons and prevents the teaching of the Great Vehicle Dharma, this is like the two root downfalls that are spoken of. For the teachings are the cause of all dharmas being the pure realm of dharma, and are the refuge of beings, so they should not be abandoned. Therefore, having gone for refuge itself should not be completely abandoned. Regarding "not knowing" and so on, if there is no opportunity to hear the holy Dharma in letters or meaning, or if one becomes doubtful or inverted because of not having the opportunity, then one should not explain the meaning of the letters to him. "Oneself" means do not torment yourself. "Having completely abandoned oneself," means having completely abandoned the mind of yoga, and in any case, being incompatible with yoga, do not torment yourself, that is its meaning. Furthermore, this self, "however comfortable it is, one should abide in comfort," that is to say, one should place it in such a way that it becomes comfortable as much as possible. Comfort means without difficulty, do not have the suffering of completely seeking, and the suffering of misconduct and so on, that is its meaning. And why is that? Because this will surely become a fully enlightened Buddha in the future. Regarding Vajra and so on, if one attains enlightenment by practicing reality, then why should one abandon it because of Vajra and so on or pleasant sounds? "Do not slander," means even if the teacher appears to be immoral and so on, do not be disrespectful. "Same as all Buddhas," means that those who are diligent and strive here will be given enlightenment in this life, and those who do not become Buddhas without diligence are the fault of the disciples themselves. "Do not excessively boast of virtue," means to be covered and abide by the illusion of great virtue. If one is despised, then explaining the method of making up for the fault is explaining "teacher" and so on, where "you" means you all. "Return" means again. "One's own vows" refers to the nature of one's own deity.
