Because there is no purity and no self, existence exists. If one asks how the nature of existence and peace are not different, that is not the case. There are two types of self-view: arising from manifest action and co-emergent. Among them, the one that distinguishes the body and so on, the one who performs good and bad deeds, and the one who enjoys its fruits, the constant and pervasive one is the self, thus clearly proclaiming the self, such as the Samkhya school's treatises, etc., arising from practice, arising from action, is arising from manifest action, such as the Vaisheshika school, etc. Due to the power of the habitual tendencies of beginningless ignorance, the nature of clinging to what relies on the continuum of consciousness, etc., that is, whatever knows the nature of the self, is co-emergent, and belongs to each individual being that all sentient beings have in common. Among them, for the first case, there is temporarily no valid cognition that establishes the existence of the self. Direct perception does not know the self, because the objects of eye consciousness, etc., are determined separately as form, etc. Inference also does not know, because there is no sign of the effect and no sign of the nature. Always hidden, contradicting the place and time, the self that is without separation, and other things that co-exist and cease, the things to be produced and the things that produce are not established, so there is no sign of the effect. Moreover, the subject is not established, so the sign of nature is not reasonable. The other sign that establishes existence, which can be inferred from, is also impossible. If the other sign must also become the difference of what is to be established, since the self to be established is not established at all, it is not determined as pervasive, so nothing can be determined to be pervaded by it, therefore, no sign arises for this. Eye consciousness, etc., or inference is not an establisher, but even so, the nature of arising the feeling of I is the establisher of the self, only direct perception exists, in order to eliminate this doubt, it is said: I, etc. I, etc., myself

Other than the mind that has become the object of cognition, there is nothing that exists such as myself and what is mine, because it is not real. The object that I cognize is form, etc., because thoughts arise such as "I am thin, I am fat, I am going." Thinness and fatness themselves are not qualities that are different from the body. For that which is not pervasive and embodied, the activity of walking, which follows after embodied things, is also not reasonable. Therefore, since there is no valid cognition that establishes the self, it transcends being able to be established as an existent nominal designation; and also since there is a valid cognition that refutes the self, it is reasonable that this is only non-existent. If the self exists, then is it the nature of awareness or is it the nature of non-awareness? In that case, in the first instance, the fault of the eye, etc., becoming fruitless is difficult to avoid. For the self that is of the nature of constantly focusing on form, etc., the existence of the eye, etc., is also not with fruit. Even if the self is of the nature of non-awareness, it is harmed by the non-perception of an existent entity. Therefore, it is established that this is only non-existent. Furthermore, in order to dispel the doubt of "How is the co-emergent view of the aggregates established in all places in the world, how can it be denied?", it is said, "I", etc. The necessity is this: As it is said, since all entities of the nature of the knower and the knowable, etc., do not exist, therefore, that which is called "I", which has become the object of grasping at a self, is permanent, and other than the mind of the nature of the grasper of the self, etc., as it is said, nothing exists, because it is not real. Therefore, since the self does not exist in all places, grasping at a self, like the consciousness of hair, etc., is not of true meaning. Therefore, since the absence of self does not exist, existence and entities, and existence and the things of peace are not different, nor are they without cessation. In order to explain the unreasonableness of what has been said, it is said, "Because of what?", that is, because of what reason, whatever is the nature that is cognized by worldly children, its own nature is just that.
