Those are indeed composing things with limbs, just like the meat-eaters of the Sutra school, who are constantly hidden and able to create their own nature, like those who assert atoms. In this regard, for the sake of refuting the atoms examined by the Vaibhashikas, it is said, "Atoms, etc." Just as a single gross thing does not exist, so also multiplicity itself does not exist. The reason stated is, "Because atoms, etc., are invisible." The nature of atoms being mutually different is because they are imperceptible. If it is said that the gross is not reasonable otherwise, and therefore one should follow atoms, then the statement is, "If the atom is indivisible," etc. The thought is this: For the time being, atoms should not be considered as having parts, because the simultaneously contradictory objects are the ten places and the six combinations, etc., which possess contradictory qualities, and therefore, like the gross, they would become many. If the atom is indivisible, that is, if the nature of the limb is devoid of parts, then it is surrounded by many atoms, that is, it is not included in the many. Thus, if it is surrounded by atoms, the one located in the center of the atoms above and below and in the four directions will inevitably become six parts, because whichever of its natures is close to another atom, at that time, it is impossible to be close to another from that atom, because they would become one place. If that also exists there, then the nature close to the eastern atom will exist close to the western atom. If there is no close existence, then even the mere appearance of observation is this closeness. Therefore, the nature of the mass would become merely atoms, and therefore, aggregates such as the mandala of the earth would not exist here at all. As it is said: "Adhesion and surrounding, or even dwelling without interval, the atom located in the center, whatever is the nature observed for one atom, if it is understood to be observed for other atoms, then from grasping, etc., the gross is unreasonable." Thus it is said. One

If it were established, because many do not become established, minute particles and the like are merely non-existent. By refuting this in common, because all those who speak of minute particles are eliminated, there is no respectful binding of the rope to the meditators who refute individually. Up to this point, because there is no valid cognition of establishment and because there is a valid cognition of harm, it has been shown that external objects are non-existent. Now, in order to gather together that all beings are only consciousness, therefore, it is said, "Therefore." "Therefore" is said by the power of the reasoning just stated, because it is separated from grasping and the like, in order to understand the form and so on of one's own continuum, all phenomena, whether moving or non-moving, that have self-nature, because they are separated from external objects, are produced only from one's own habitual tendencies, just like a city of gandharvas. Although it is only consciousness, it cannot tolerate the nature of one and many as before, so it should not be spoken of as existing, like a lotus in the sky. For an existing thing, since there is no other aspect, if it must become one of either one or many, it is not so. Therefore, it is not known how this can become an object of the term "existing." But if you think that it is impossible for consciousness not to possess one and many, that is not true. For those who possess consciousness and so on, just like external objects, the very nature of one and many is eliminated. Whatever the world names as an external object, that is the very consciousness that speaks of possessing aspects. Therefore, whatever harm there is to the existence of an external object, that is the very same harm to the existence of an internal object. In this way, harm eliminates either a single coarse thing or something that is not a minute particle. This aspect that has become the nature of consciousness, if it is a single coarse thing, or if it is many different minute particles, in either case, it cannot avoid the refutation that arises for external objects. That which becomes non-existent because it does not exist is not refuted by the reason that it is external to consciousness. That which is harmed by the reason of having a body is having a body.
