“Also not visible.” Thus it is said that even in the nature of each atom, it is neither visible nor knowable. Atoms, etc., do not appear with their own nature, because partless atoms, etc., do not appear in that way, hence they are prevented by “not being multiple entities.” “It is also the same” means that just as in the nature of having parts, because the differences such as beginning, middle, and end can be clearly distinguished, it cannot be established as one, similarly, the nature of atoms, etc., is also refuted by the difference of directions such as “because the six are combined at once,” so it cannot be established. “Or the non-existent is also the same” means that just as form, etc., do not have a single nature, the nature of multiplicity is also the same, as it shows. Having refuted the gross oneness and multiplicity in this way, in order to refute the subtle oneness and multiplicity, it is said: “Atoms without parts are also the same, because there is no combination of many atoms, the shapes of the mandala of earth, etc., are not at all gathered here.” It is said that atoms, etc., are not partible, so they are not limb-possessing, therefore others do not want it to be the multiplicity of their own nature, because the part is the nature of multiplicity, after preventing that, because they admit that there are only atoms. If atoms are without parts, then the pervasiveness formed by the aggregation of many atoms does not exist, so the difference of the shapes of the mandala of earth, etc., does not exist. Moreover, the tenets of these schools that claim the existence of external objects are that atoms, etc., touch each other, and from the two atoms, etc., gradually arise partible, multiple entities, etc., and are established by generating the main part of the partible entity. This should be examined as follows: When other atoms combine with the atom that is the center, do they combine with all of themselves? Or do they combine with parts? For the time being, it cannot be combined by parts, because it has been admitted that the atom is partless. If it is combined with all of itself, then all

It will not become like a minute particle, nor will it become an accumulation of tangible things like the mandala of the earth. Because all the minute particles merge into one minute particle, then the characteristics of the accumulation of the mandala of the earth, etc., will become non-existent. Therefore, the view that minute particles exist should not be accepted either. For that very reason, when six are joined together at once, the minute particle will become six parts. If these six parts occupy the same position, then the aggregate will also become like a minute particle. This is what is said. In this way, just as the view that external objects are separate from one and many has been refuted, so too should consciousness be viewed in the same way. Because consciousness also has divisions of directional parts. Therefore, the refutation of blue, etc., is no different from the refutation of mind. Because it is a tangible thing, blue, etc., are separate from one and many, and this is the same for consciousness. If consciousness is defined as a nature that is the opposite of what is not understood and that is examined, then it will be defined as having directional components. As it is said, in the word "form," there is no "form." Because form has length, width, and direction, and this exists without distinction in consciousness, then how can it be the same in conventional truth? Therefore, it will not become a non-existent thing either. That is: without things, there is no consciousness; without a basis, there is no alaya-consciousness. These are bad reasonings, examined by fools. It is like what the Blessed One said in the Lankavatara Sutra. Therefore, it has been shown that all things are without self-nature. Furthermore, it is said here: these things spoken of by self and other, if they truly exist, then they are separate from the nature of one and many, therefore they are without self-nature, like reflections. In this way, after showing that all things are non-things, now, in order to conclude the established meaning, "therefore," etc., is said. Because of the reasoning of wisdom just mentioned, it is separate from the grasper, etc.
