Because it contradicts the parts. Thus, the individual parts cannot be one, so only indivisible atoms exist. Moreover, the atoms that are completely surrounded cannot be joined from one direction, because they have no parts. It is also not possible for all of them to join, because the atoms penetrate each other, and mountains and so on would become the size of atoms. Therefore, these cotton cloths and so on are neither one nor many, so if these blue things and so on are analyzed into atoms, then external objects do not exist, because they are separate from one and many. In this regard, Master Vasubandhu said: When six are joined simultaneously, the finest dust becomes six parts. If these six are in one place, the aggregate becomes only the size of a tiny dust. Thus, these criticisms made against the assumption that blue and so on are external, also apply to the blue and so on that are the nature of consciousness, because there is no difference in becoming a fault. The mere difference between things and consciousness does not change anything. If it is said that the finest atom of a thing is surrounded by six directions, and the atom of consciousness is four-sided, then, because it is the same as having parts, it does not change anything. Since there is no other third kind of object aggregate other than one and many, these blue things and so on are false because they are not established as external and internal objects. Furthermore, these blue things and so on are experienced all at once, and that experience is called awareness, clarity, and appearance, and that clarity is the same as the nature of experience, because clarity and non-clarity are contradictory, and clarity is only the characteristic of clarity. It is the very nature of experience. Thus, even if it is only clarity, it is controlled by the power of being disturbed by habitual tendencies, and even if it disappears, it will appear as itself in some way, and these selves are in order non-other-established, other-established true, and other-established untrue, because clarity is not other-established, so it cannot be false. That clarity is also another clarity.

It is not clear because it is established by it, because it would become the fault of having no contact. Therefore, this clarity is the direct perception of one's own nature, because what is established by others is mistaken, like the appearance of a collection of sounds in the sky. For this very reason, there is nothing that harms clarity, and there is no more excellent measure in the world than it. Blue and so on are only harmful. For example, blue, yellow, white, and green, etc., appear by abandoning each other's characteristics, so they are not one, and their nature contradicts one appearance, so they are not many either. If, because it is its nature, clarity is also different like it? Because they each experience their own nature, they do not experience it together, so it would become a fault that they do not experience everything as one. Therefore, blue and so on are false because they are separated from one and many, like a collection of hairs appearing on the surface of the sky. The Blessed One also said this meaning: "Like the image in a mirror, separated from one and other, it appears but is not there, the nature of things." Here, "other" means relative to one, it is many. "Things" means all dharmas of the nature of mere consciousness. "Nature" means the nature of things, such as the blue path and so on. Furthermore, are blue and so on different from clarity or are they not different? If they are different, then they will not appear. If they are not different, then they are the nature of clarity, so they become one, or it is also not different from them, so they become many, so there is no experience together. Therefore, blue and so on are different from clarity, and because they are separated from the nature of the other, they are false like the image appearing in the mirror. So it is also said, "Like the image in a mirror," and so on. For this side, "one" and "other" mean different and not different. If you say that blue and so on are experienced together, so are they one? No, because they are experienced differently and not experienced differently.
