There is no near object. The so-called "non-thinking" means that there is no distinction between existence and non-existence. The reason given is "unequal placement" and so on, because one has gained freedom over the mind, so the state of unequal placement is also the equal placement here. That is, as it is said in "The Discrimination of Bodhisattvas": Whether it is good or not good, everything becomes good, because it is the cause of the mind's freedom. Or, for the samadhi of skillful means and wisdom, and those who have compassion, there is no abandonment for the benefit of all sentient beings. Therefore, even the actions of an unwholesome body can benefit them, therefore, for this, there is nothing that cannot be done. And so on. Or, for the initial practitioner, the yogi of his own tutelary deity, especially devoted, always truly gathers the mind, so there is nothing that cannot be done, that is, there is nothing that should not be done, unwholesome and indeterminate minds will not arise. The so-called "non-eating" means that there are no impurities, etc., that contradict one's own yogic practice. The so-called "non-speaking" means that one does not speak of anything other than praise, recitation, and reading the holy Dharma. The so-called "non-thinking" means that one does not think of other meanings except for the benefit and happiness of all sentient beings, and the meditation of one's own deity. The reason given here is "unequal placement" and so on, even in a state of distraction, one is always single-mindedly focused on one's own deity, so this is always equal placement. Therefore, the so-called all minds, whether afflicted or non-afflicted, and indeterminate behaviors, for any characteristic that does not completely abandon samadhi, that is called following. The answer to the question about the practice of mantra is, the so-called "root" and so on, the root is the eye and so on. The object is the object of the root. The mind that arises and is born full of those powers, with the image of what is taken and what can be taken, that is called not. What protects it is the wisdom that is inseparable from skillful means and wisdom, which is the mandala, that is, the mantra.
