Thus spoken, it is called the 'Later Secret Tantra.' Although it appears to be taught by all the Tathāgatas of the retinue, it seems to expound the power and blessings of the Bodhicitta Vajra, including both the root tantra and the later tantra. This Later Tantra is also regarded as the supreme of all tantras. Why? Because it explains the meaning of all secret tantras and all intentions. Now, the sixth question: 'How many kinds of suchness are taught?' The answer is: 'Suchness is taught as five families.' The term 'suchness' refers to that which is unchanging and abides in its own state. Although there are many ways to distinguish and show different forms according to the views of various tantras, here it refers to the five afflictions. When suchness has not realized its pure nature and exists in the continuum of sentient beings, it abides in a state that does not change from its nature of generating all phenomena of samsara, as it is accompanied by defilements. When suchness realizes its pure nature and exists in the continuum of the Tathāgatas, it abides in a state that is not recognized by any form of nature. Suchness destroys the faults of grasping and being grasped, suppresses the faults of the two extremes, and abides in a state of great jealousy, desiring to accomplish the benefit of all beings alone, being attached to the benefit of the Dharma realm and sentient beings, and does not change from its nature of generating all phenomena of nirvana, such as the body and wisdom. Therefore, it is called suchness. The term 'family' refers to its own nature. The statement 'there are five families' refers to suchness, and their respective characteristics have already been explained in detail above. The seventh question: 'How many kinds of Tathāgata's secrets are there?' The answer is: 'Secrets are of three families.' This refers to the self-purification of the five afflictions, which are the three vajras of body, speech, and mind. This is what is known as the three families of the Tathāgata. The eighth question: 'What is the great secret?' The answer is: 'The great secret is the deity of the family.' This refers to the nature that pervades all phenomena, the basis of the three vajras of body, speech, and mind. The sphere of all bodies and wisdom.

It refers to the great Vajradhara who has transformed into a form. Why is it said so? Because it is the very essence of the secret of body, speech, and mind, even all the Tathagatas of the retinue, including Vairochana, cannot fully comprehend the meaning of its nature. Because those secrets have also become the greatest secrets, it is called the Great Secret. It is a deity accomplished from perfect wisdom, and all lineages are born and arise from being united with a vidyadhari. Ninth question: How many kinds of noble ones are there? The answer is: There are a hundred kinds of noble ones. That is to say, measuring from the worldly lineages and the lineages beyond, one becomes a noble one, so it is called a special lineage. It refers to those that have branched out into a hundred lineages from the five substantial lineages. Tenth question: What is Bodhicitta like? The answer is: 'Without arising or ceasing, peaceful nature, real and unreal, inexhaustible lord, emptiness and great compassion are not different, it is called Bodhisattva.' That is to say, because it has not arisen from the beginning, it ultimately does not cease. Its nature is peaceful. Because there is no birth, the real that is considered permanent does not exist. Because there is no cessation, the unreal that is considered annihilation does not exist. The essence of the Dharma nature of emptiness is the end of permanence and annihilation, and arising and ceasing, without exhaustion. Whether the Buddha appears in the world or not, it abides in the nature of self-purification, so it is the essence or lord of all dharmas. As such, it is not that emptiness, bodhi, and the severance of great compassion are separate, so it is said: Emptiness and great compassion are not different. That is to say, the Dharma nature of emptiness has the power of great compassion that is naturally unobtainable, so wherever the Dharma nature of emptiness pervades, the unobtainable great compassion also pervades. And that compassion itself also abides in the essence of emptiness. Therefore, emptiness and compassion are not independent of each other, but exist inseparably, and that is what is called Bodhisattva. That is to say, it is called Bodhicitta, and it is also called a hero. As it is said in the Manifest Enlightenment Sutra: 'Bodhi is the nature of the sky, it is abandoning all discriminations. Whoever wants to obtain that meaning is a hero.'
