Actions are also supreme, said to be distinctive. Among them, the Hearers grasp Suchness through the door of meditative absorption that stops that very nature; those of the Pratyekabuddha lineage grasp Suchness through the aspect of apprehending external objects that infer it; and the Yoga practitioners grasp Suchness through the aspect of being with and without aspects. Among them, some assert that only the basis-consciousness exists. Some assert that only the afflicted mind and the entering consciousness exist. Some assert that only the six entering consciousnesses exist. Some assert that there are eight consciousnesses, these are the four aspects of Yoga practitioners. Because arising from causes and conditions, external objects are established separately, and the aspectless consciousness is established separately; both of these are without inherent existence, so the Sautrāntika-bhūta school grasps Suchness. External objects are only the appearance of wisdom, and that is also without inherent existence, so the Yogācāra-Madhyamikas grasp Suchness. Having abandoned afflictions through the paths of seeing and meditation, the Jñānamātṛkā-Madhyamikas assert the ultimate tenet of having attained the Dharmakāya. Those who abide in the Kriyā Tantra assert Suchness as only the form of a special deity; those who abide in the Caryā Tantra assert Suchness as only the form of a deity through non-mundane conduct such as music; those who abide in the Yoga Tantra assert that the very body of a deity such as Vairocana, attained through mantras, mudras, and samādhis, is Suchness; those who abide in the Mahāyoga Tantra assert that Suchness is the limit of a completely isolated body, with the three samādhis preceding it, by the yogi of the generation stage; some who abide in the completion stage assert that it is not complete isolation of speech, some assert that it is the luminosity of the mind, some assert that it is the illusory body, some assert that it is external manifest enlightenment, and some assert that it is Suchness of non-abiding nirvāṇa. If phenomena are analyzed, it is Suchness that transcends the Dharmakāya.

It is not just that others exist, but it is for the sake of distinguishing. Therefore, it is to awaken to that very nature; if one awakens to it, one will realize all paths. Due to the differences in support, views are different, but it is not just that very nature. Otherwise, it will not just become that very nature. As it is said: "The realm of Dharma is without distinction, the division of types is not reasonable, with the division of the basis of Dharma, its meaning is explained separately." Because it is said so. Now, in order to explain that asceticism and so on should not be taken as only for that purpose, it is said: "Matted hair, naked, head touching the ground, crown gathered, abandoning entering, various signs possessing those, desiring manifest enlightenment." It is said that matted hair refers to the ascetic of wisdom. Naked refers to the ascetic of conduct. Head touching the ground refers to monks and novices and so on. Crown refers to the lay follower who abides in the five precepts. Gathering, abandoning, entering refers to the yogi of the tailor. Various signs possessing those, refers to the signs of the qualities of practicing asceticism and so on, with the characteristics of practicing asceticism, those are only for wanting to manifest enlightenment, those are not striving for other purposes. In order to explain that asceticism alone is not the cause of attaining that very nature, it is said: "That nature is inferior, those of them, the order of practicing asceticism and so on, because that nature's wisdom is inferior, that one will not find liberation." It is said that if those who hold matted hair and so on are separated from that very nature, then at that time the order of practicing asceticism and so on by those will only be meaningless, it will become like carrying a burden. Therefore, because there is no that very nature, asceticism and so on will not lead to liberation. In the Four Seats Tantra it is also said: "Yoga without that very nature, like the sound of an elephant's bell resounding." Therefore, only fully knowing that very nature is the cause of liberation, even if there is no asceticism and so on, one can realize that very nature. If there is no that very nature, asceticism and so on are meaningless, only carrying a burden. Asceticism
