It is extremely clear and possesses the wisdom of upholding the Dharma. Similarly, in order to know the nature of all things, the nature of all things is the yogi himself, because by realizing luminosity, he knows the suchness of the three realms. If a yogi meditates on such a suchness, then he will know the nature of all things, otherwise he will not. So what is suchness like? Clarity is the nature of mirror-like wisdom, purity is the nature of equality, extreme subtlety is the essence of discriminating wisdom, the nature of supreme peace is the nature of diligent accomplishment of deeds, and the realm of Buddha's Nirvana is the nature of the extremely pure Dharmadhatu. Similarly, non-duality is because appearance is non-dual, non-conceptual is because there is no close attainment, and the nature of constant bliss is because it is the essence of luminosity. So how should a yogi meditate?

O, this is the previous analysis. Vajrasattva is: Steadfast and essence without emptiness, Of the nature of indivisible and uncuttable, What is without burning and destruction, Emptiness is said to be Vajra. This is what is said in the glorious Vajra Peak. For such a Vajra, the mind is where the thought exists, that is Vajrasattva, because having attained the Suchness of emptiness, therefore will abide in luminosity, this is the meaning of the words, that is the ultimate of the excellent essence. Commentary on the Five Stages, called "Clarifying the Meaning of the Stages," is the fourth chapter, the Stages of Manifest Enlightenment. Fifth, the stage of union. Now, in order to write the stage of union, in order to explain the homage to the great Vajradhara, (it says:) Protector, the nature of cause and effect, Abandoning all duality, Having paid homage, the final stage of union, Shall be written. This is what is said. For the sake of those who desire liberation to seek. The protector is the sixth, having paid homage to this, the stage of union should be written, this is the connection of the words. How should it be written? Without completely abandoning the Middle Way. What kind of stage is it? The so-called final, means that there is no further stage than this, this is to show the sake of no more learning. As it is said: Abiding in the samadhi of union, No longer learning in any place. This is what is said. What kind of protector is it? The so-called nature of cause and effect, the cause is the four stages such as Vajra recitation, and the fruit is the fifth stage, their nature is in whatever nature they exist, that is how it is. For the four stages such as Vajra recitation, there is also neuter recitation, as well as the luminosity of the mind, the illusory body, and the luminosity of self-nature, these are not different from it, this is a summary word. For what reason? Because there is not even a little that is not pervaded by the two truths, and the non-dual fruit, because it abides in this way and pervades all defilements and purifications. Therefore, (it says:) Abandoning all duality. This is what is said, separated from mutually contradictory dharmas such as existence and non-existence, which will be explained below.

That is, the ultimate of the essence of suchness. In order to explain it in many ways: Samsara and nirvana, by abandoning the two concepts, where things become one, that is said to be union. It is said that, according to the distinction between cause and effect, union is of two kinds. Among them, the cause is also previously explained in many ways according to the distinction of hearers and so on. According to the views of other schools, the difference between cause and effect is that the suchness of nature of the Samkhyas is the cause, and the twenty-three suchness are the effect. Among them, the suchness of the person, appearing as non-different is samsara, and appearing as different is liberation. Similarly, the Brahmavadins, the aspect of action is samsara, and the certainty that all these are Brahma is considered liberation. Similarly, the tirthikas such as the Shivas also understand samsara and nirvana, and where there is no concept of both samsara and nirvana, that is said to be union. That is because the nature of conventional and ultimate reality is non-dual, like the sweetness of brown sugar and the hot touch of fire. This is also the reason of the nature of reality, that is, whatever samsara and nirvana are non-different, that is the ultimate of the essence of the general meaning. In order to explain the aspect of the Hearer Vehicle: All afflictions and purification, having known in the ultimate truth, whoever becomes one, that knows union. It is said that afflictions are desire and so on, and purification is the path without outflows and so on, whoever knows them as one in the ultimate truth, that knows the order of union, that is the meaning. That is because if afflictions are completely treated, the senses and so on are not available. Purification also depends on the aspect of afflictions, therefore they are established like mutual length and shortness, which is the ultimate of the essence of the general meaning. In order to explain the aspect of the Yogacara school: With the concept of things and, the concept of non-things, the yogi practices oneness, that is union.
