Thinking thus. At that time, the Buddhas abide in the Bodhisattva ground, habituating themselves to the state of great emptiness. The son of the Victorious One, who has not attained the Buddha ground, is unwavering in that, that is, abandoning the illusory mind, with a mind of great purity and tone, speaking and teaching in one word, just as it sounds. That which is spoken by the Tathagatas is: That meditation is not pure, this is not the ultimate Buddhahood, like the face of the sky, the supreme one, that luminous one should be focused on. Thus it is said. O Bodhisattva Shakya Simha, for the sake of purifying your mind, that meditation on the nature of great emptiness that you focus on is not pure, because it is not possible to attain the Suchness of all emptiness, and although attachment and so on have been purified, it is not possible to attain the co-emergent Suchness of extremely bright and joyful nature. Therefore, this meditation is not the ultimate attainment, because it does not make the perfection of the completion stage. Therefore, it should be abandoned. However, you should focus on that attachment and detachment, and the intermediate stages of attachment being gradually abandoned, all empty light, that is, it should be taken and relied upon. And how is that? Like the face of the sky, like the realm of the sky, not stained by sudden stains and pervasive, this cannot be pointed out here or somewhere, and there is no obstacle. The supreme one, because emptiness abides above all, is supreme, know that it is that. The Tathagatas, with such oral instructions as this, will greatly encourage Shakya Simha, that is, the ultimate. The fruit of that is: having attained the state of luminosity, one will be born as a self-joyful body, one will obtain all power, and one will rejoice with the vajra body. Thus it is said, at what time, with the order of purification of attachment and so on, through the gate of seeing the three, such as appearance, the state of luminosity, that is, the fourth all empty

Furthermore, when the great bliss of co-emergence is attained, at the time of attainment, the self-joyful body arises, which is the self-existent body, the rainbow-like image body, which is transformed into the wisdom body through the stages of self-blessing. It becomes capable of accomplishing the benefit of all sentient beings, which is the meaning to be expressed. After that, from all the masters, that is, Vishnu, Shiva, Brahma, etc., as well as from all the Shravakas, Pratyekabuddhas, and Bodhisattvas, obtaining the wisdom that transcends the world is mastery, and it will be attained. Or, the mastery of body and speech, as well as the mastery of mind, likewise, all mastery of miraculous powers and qualities, the speaker, the doer, the eight qualities. When all these masteries are obtained, one becomes the Vajra body, that is, the fearless wisdom body, and then becomes joyful, going from Buddha-field to Buddha-field, and especially for the fortunate aeon, accomplishing the benefit of sentient beings, becoming joyful and content, this is the hidden meaning. As soon as the Tathagatas heard what was said, in order to show that they immediately entered the Samadhi of Shakya Simha. Therefore, after hearing that sound, from then on abandoning the immovable, at midnight, the son of the Buddhas focused on that very thing. The body is not straight, nor is it not straight, it is not exhaling and inhaling, it is not speaking nor not speaking, one's own eyes are not open, nor are they closed, clear and bright wisdom, all empty is wonderful. By the kindness of the Guru, from then on it will be clearly seen. Thus it is said, such words that show suchness, abide in the Tathagatas. Thinking that this is not the place of complete purity of suchness, he abandoned and relinquished the immovable Samadhi of great emptiness, and at midnight, that is, at the middle of the night, the son of the Buddhas, Bodhisattva Shakyamuni, focused on the suchness of the fourth initiation. The meaning here is: Abiding in the expanse of space.

All the Tathagatas first emanated the wheel of light, making it a vessel. Then, emanating the mudra of wisdom, they placed it in its abode. These, entering into equanimity together, through the sequence of intervals, nights, and days, manifest the co-emergent Suchness, thereby abandoning the immovable. Because the empowerment of wisdom is secret, the fourth Suchness is contemplated and attained in the middle of the night. Therefore, even today, the empowerment of wisdom given to disciples at midnight, which is the lineage of the Guru, remains, being ultimate. How is Suchness to be seen? Therefore, some yogis, practicing speech and so on, meditate with their bodies upright. Some sit, focusing on meditation with postures such as the lotus position, which are not upright. Some meditate with their eyes open, looking at images such as painted cloths. Some meditate with their eyes closed, through the initial union and so on. Shakya Simha does none of these, because having attained the pervasive Suchness, there is no need for other behaviors such as moving the body. External physical disciplines and mudras are practiced in order to attain Suchness and control the mind. If it is said that it can be attained through the Guru's grace, then what is the use of afflicting the body, speech, and mind, and of perverse elaborations that distract from samadhi? As it was said before: If one has found the elephant, why seek the elephant's footprints? And so on, this is the true meaning. Shakya Simha, through the co-emergent, sees and manifests the Suchness of emptiness and luminosity. How is it seen? Pure, that is, having abandoned the faults of discursive thoughts such as desire, pure and stainless like water cleansed by a jewel and clear water. Clear, that is, yoga.
