Tree. (This is) for those who want the perfection stage, the perfect Buddha declared this method, like a ladder's sequence. Thus it is said, in short, the practitioner first manifests the deity through the sequence of the three samadhis such as the first yoga, or through the sequence of the four vajras, and through distinguishing hundreds of categories, enters the state of complete solitude of the body. After that, having attained excellent accomplishment, being able to clearly see the deity's form without effort, and seeing everything as only the deity's image, these are well-established in the generation stage, which is the meaning of reaching the other shore of the generation stage. Because one can be well established in the generation stage, the causes and conditions of the past tense are combined, so the meaning is like this: Those who have perfectly completed the generation stage and dwell in it. If such yogis want the perfection stage, that is, the nature stage of non-proliferation and non-discrimination, and want to attain it, then the method for these yogis is like this: the meditation sequence spoken by the perfect Buddha, that is, the Tathagatas, is the teaching. Like the sequence of a ladder, that is, like a climbing path. Just as a person climbing from the path of a ladder gradually reaches the towering top of a palace, etc., by practicing the sequence of vajra recitation, etc., gradually through the sequence of completely purifying speech, etc., one constantly obtains the nature of joy, the great position of Vajradhara, the nature of the Dharma body of the path of no more learning. Saying perfect Buddha is to show that this is a reliable teaching, that is, the literal meaning. Now, in order to explain the basis of the vajra recitation sequence, that is, what the collection of winds is, it is said: The wind that becomes the life of beings, called the maker of all actions, that is the mount of consciousness, is the nature of five, and also ten. The meaning of what is said is this: the wind called life, located in the heart, the only state that arises outward from the mouth and nose, like the fine threads of a willow branch.

From the fetus onwards, all the worlds up to the peak of existence are pervaded by life. What is that like? It is like the life force of sentient beings, that is, the life of the four types of sentient beings, like the faculty of life. Is this one of the great elements? Or is it the nature of all things? It is said to be wind, and wind is the nature of the great elements, having the characteristic of going, coming, stretching, and contracting. If that is the case, then the external wind is also the same, since it is also the same as that, why should it not be taken? In order to eliminate this necessity, it is said that "consciousness is the vehicle", meaning that consciousness is the nature of seeing meaning, and there are eight types, namely, the alaya consciousness, the afflicted mind consciousness, and the six entering consciousnesses. Their vehicle is the impeller, like a horse and a rider. Thus, apart from these eight consciousnesses that reside within the body, which is the nature of the five great elements, no other action can be observed. As it is said, "In that, the meaning-seeing consciousness, its difference arises from the mind." In the Abhidharma it says, "Consciousness, self, mind, nature." Therefore, as long as it is not propelled by the wind element, this nature of mere discrimination does not have the ability to hold meaning, just as a paralyzed person cannot go to another place without a horse. Therefore, this is propelled by the wind and holds meaning. If consciousness is propelled by the wind and holds meaning, and it is not its own nature, then how is it not contradictory to the sutras? In the Sutra Requested by Good Guardian, the Blessed One said, "Good Guardian, just as the wheel turns by the power of action, so too, by the power that accords with karma, the wheel of the body moves. This realm of consciousness has various supports and entrances. This realm of consciousness is the very cause of generating the body, therefore it is the agent. This realm of consciousness relies on the realm of dharma.

Therefore, it will not be exhausted. Because it is the remembrance of the previous body of reliance, this realm of consciousness is perfect in wisdom. This realm of consciousness should be regarded as similar to sunlight. For example, sunlight shines on unpleasant odors such as feces and rotten things, as well as pleasant odors such as lotuses, but for these, the idea of "This is a pleasant odor" does not arise, nor does it abandon the unpleasant odor and go to the sunlight. Similarly, this realm of consciousness takes birth in the birth place of pigs and other impure things, but the realm of consciousness is not contaminated by those faults, and so on. What is said is true, and that will not contradict the Sutra Pitaka. Why? In this way, consciousness makes the body move, and that is also because it is combined with the ride of the wind, and this difference should be followed. If you say, at the time of death, how can it be separated from the five great elements and wander to other birth places, because there is no wind at that time. It should not be said like that, because the intermediate state only has a subtle collection of senses, not only, and in the subtle collection of senses, the body root contained is the nature of the four elements, because there is wind, so it is driven by it. Alternatively, it is driven by the habits of greed and hatred, as if transformed into a spring of mantras. Vasubandhu said that at that time, the intermediate state and the anger that arose with it, whichever of the two minds manifested. Moreover, it is not contradictory that being driven by the wind of karma, it wanders in the six realms. Therefore, the wind called life is the ride of consciousness. That is, according to the classification of aggregates, it has five kinds of nature, namely life, downward-moving air, fire-dwelling air, upward-moving air, and pervasive air. Among them, the life air is located in the heart. The downward-moving air is located in the anus.
