DTG037 0018.The Meaning of the Text.g2.0f

English

Furthermore, does it arise all at once or gradually? If it arises gradually, since it is a momentary thing, how does consciousness rely on it to arise when it is destroyed? If it arises all at once, then what is related to what? And why doesn't consciousness give rise to things? Therefore, it is abandoning the object and the subject. If that is the case, what is the mind of enlightenment like? It is said that the selflessness of all phenomena, such as the aggregates, is that which is not self-existent. That which is equal to it is all-pervasive, that is, by it. The nature of the three consciousnesses—mind, mental factors, and the nature of ignorance—one's own mind, which has not arisen from the beginning, is without nature. It abandons arising, ceasing, and abiding, and is free from the views of permanence and annihilation. Therefore, it is emptiness, that is, all is empty, and it is the fourth truth. The mind of enlightenment, which is its nature, I should meditate on, which is a superfluous word. After the disciple recites the mantra of the mind of enlightenment, he should offer a mandala with folded hands at the feet of the teacher, which is the ultimate. After that, he should think of offering the land. Then, offer the appropriate offerings. One should offer to the lama: precious houses, elephants, land, horses, and bedding. Thus it is said. After that, it is appropriate, that is, according to one's own ability, one should offer the seven precious things to the lama. The donor should also do likewise: food, maidservants, young wives, extremely beloved daughters, and even oneself should be offered. What need is there to mention other remaining things? Maidservants and the like are great generosity. Offering oneself is a special generosity, so what need is there to mention other remaining things? What else is there that should not be offered? This is a concluding statement, that is, as the words indicate. Thus, by obtaining the oral instructions, through the door of meditating on suchness, in order to show the attainment of the great seal accomplishment that has become the fruit, having received kindness from the teacher, possessing immaculate and stable wisdom, all things are of their own nature, clear and pure, extremely subtle, the supreme nature, the realm of the Buddha's nirvana.

The yogi who meditates on the very nature of non-duality, free from thought, and supreme bliss. Liberating merit and non-merit, one's own self here becomes the Bhagavan Vajrasattva. Thus it is said. That very reality, the fourfold essence, is also the supreme instruction; the yogi who meditates in such a way, having become free from the conceptualizations of merit and non-merit, becomes the Bhagavan Vajrasattva, that is, the great Vajradhara, and will be accomplished. What kind of yogi is it? It is said to be one who has inquired of the teacher and received permission from the guru. Likewise, it is free from the mud of afflictions such as desire, which is without the impurity of its own nature. What is steadfastness? It is said to be one who has a mind that is very steadfast in meditation. All things are of the nature of stability and movement; since their nature is completely known in the ultimate sense, all things are of the nature of reality. What is reality like? Clarity, that is, the nature of purifying mirror-like wisdom. Purity is the nature of purifying the wisdom of equality. Very subtle is the nature of discriminating awareness wisdom. Supreme is the nature of being unable to accomplish the benefit of sentient beings and being peaceful. It is the nature of non-conceptual wisdom, that is, the nature of supreme peace is the essence of the wisdom of accomplishing activities. The Buddha, that is, the realm of nirvana of the Tathagatas, is the essence of the wisdom of the utterly pure sphere of reality. Likewise, non-duality, that is, duality is freedom from desire, and because of the absence of that, it is called non-duality. Because it is itself conceptualized, supreme purity is conceptualization, and because it is free from that, it is called freedom from conceptualization. Therefore, supreme bliss is the great bliss of co-emergent joy, and its nature, that is, the yogi who meditates on its very essence, will become Vajrasattva, which is the meaning of speech, that is, the ultimate meaning.

The Order. Then, to compose the order of union, I prostrate with homage: The protector is the nature of cause and effect, To the one who has completely abandoned all duality, Having prostrated, I shall write, The final stage of the order of union. Thus it is said. The protector is the supreme of all Tathagatas. The cause is the twenty-two divisions of generating the mind of enlightenment, and the fruit is perfect complete enlightenment, which is their nature. All duality, that is, being free from faults such as attachment, is abandonment. Having prostrated to that Bhagavan, I shall write the order of union, that is, the final stage of the order of the nature of the sphere of non-abiding nirvana, that is, what will be written and explained later, according to the words. Again, the protector is the supreme of all. The cause is meditating on the body of the deity through the generation stage, and the fruit is attaining the great position of Vajradhara, their nature is its own nature. All duality, that is, being free from all the elaborations of conceptualization such as the aggregates, having prostrated to the abandoned, I shall write the order of union, this is not the intention. The protector is great bliss. The fruit is the mind of enlightenment. Its cause is the union of skillful means and wisdom. Its nature is what is to be attained by that skillful means. Duality, that is, being free from all joy and excellence, having prostrated to the free and abandoned, I shall write the order of union, this is explained with intention. The protector is the victor over afflictions. The fruit is nirvana. The cause is the selflessness of phenomena and persons. Its nature is showing those two paths. All duality, that is, being free from attachment and hatred, having prostrated to the abandoned and free, I shall explain the order of union, this is the straightforward meaning. The fruit is the letter Hūṃ (藏文:ཧཱུྃ,梵文天城体:हुं,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:吽) residing in the four mandalas with the distinctions of parts and parts. The cause is reciting it in the order of entering and so on. Its nature is the nature of reciting what is desired. The protector is the seed syllable of Vajradhara. All duality, that is, having prostrated to the complete abandonment of the limbs of the seed syllable of Om (藏文:ཨོཾ,梵文天城体:ओं,梵文罗马拟音:oṃ,汉语字面意思:嗡) and speech.
