Its evil nature should not be placed nearby, should not be placed in the vicinity, and should not teach the Dharma. Similarly, the third, such as elders, is worthy of being a vessel of excellence, and they are also embraced by the noble ones. Although they are held by the noble ones, if they have the aforementioned faults, they should not be placed near them. This is the literal meaning. A person like a jewel: Possessing good qualities and diligence, Respecting the guru and retinue as Buddhas, Understanding the Victor's teachings and having great faith in the doctrine, They are vessels here, and kindness should be bestowed upon them. It is said that good qualities are those such as discipline, and possessing them. Wisdom is the realization through the stages of hearing, etc., and because one possesses it, one is with wisdom. Joy in virtuous Dharma is having diligence. Likewise, with reverence, one regards the guru's retinue, the Vajra Acharya and his retinue, as Buddhas. And likewise, knowing the Victor's Dharma, the three baskets, and having great faith and joy in the path taught by the Bhagavan, one is worthy of being a vessel for oral instructions, and only kindness should be bestowed upon them. This is the literal meaning. Now, the characteristics of one like an Utpala (Sanskrit, Utpala, blue lotus): Although hearing many tantras and being skilled in the scriptures, Lacking service and respect before the guru, They cannot benefit themselves and are known only for scriptures, Their scriptures are merely a cause for weariness. It is said that initially, by hearing the Sutra Pitaka, Vinaya Pitaka, and Abhidhamma Pitaka, one becomes skilled and proficient in the scriptures of the Mahayana Sutra Pitaka. Then, through the stages of Kriya and other tantras, although one has heard many tantras, one's service and respect, that is, offerings and reverence, are scarce and unsteady before the guru who possesses oral instructions. Therefore, one who has not heard oral instructions and does not understand the true oral instructions is known only for scriptures, hence the name "scripture-famous." They cannot benefit themselves because they lack the wealth of oral instructions.

incapable of being a vessel for the sequential instructions. Hearing many of his treatises is merely a cause for sorrow, becoming a cause for suffering, because day after day he argues with others, and also does not find the taste of the ultimate peace of meditation. Therefore, that is also not a vessel for the sequential instructions, this is as it sounds. Now, a person like a white lotus, from then on becomes fortunate, and even if he obtains the instructions, if someone is foolish in intelligence and unable to gather the meanings, has the mind to benefit others, is good at entering the doctrine, and the qualities of his words are inferior, that will also be despised. Thus it is said. A disciple is one who possesses a collection of merit, therefore he becomes fortunate, because the collection of wisdom precedes the collection of merit. Even if he obtains the instructions of the collection of wisdom, nevertheless he has some faults of his own, such as, because he is devoid of innate wisdom, he is foolish in intelligence. Therefore, because he lacks wisdom, he is unable to gather the meaning of whatever he obtains slightly in the sequence of the four knowledges. Is he unable to gather them? If he develops the mind to benefit others, then he is good at entering the doctrine and is diligent, then, because he does not possess the characteristics of establishing with tenets, reasoning, and examples, and distinguishing between definitive and provisional meanings, and possesses the characteristics of inferior qualities of words, therefore he will be despised and ridiculed, this is the meaning. Therefore, he is unable to accomplish the benefit of himself and others, because he does not know the true instructions, and he does not know because he lacks wisdom. That is merely that in another life he will know reality, because he has the seed of previous faith and conceptualization, this is as it sounds. Now, it is the person who is superior to all, like a jewel. He hears the tantras, has wisdom, knows the meaning of words with six, has memory and intelligence, is able to hold, has an upright mind, and is perfect in diligence. By offering to the face of the lama, that also...
