Those who possess defilements should not abide in such a nature, and it is the sole nature of the ultimate truth. Because one's own view deteriorates, therefore, in order to eliminate these faults and to benefit sentient beings, through the stages of instantaneous or obtaining near-attainment, one holds the supreme wisdom body endowed with all aspects, surrounded by the mandala. Then, by clinging to it in a hundred ways, faults will arise. In order to abandon that fault, one enters the clear light again and purifies the conventional truth. After that, having the aspect of the mixture of the conventional and ultimate truths, having the nature of the Dharmakaya without beginning or end, the essence of non-abiding nirvana, having obtained the Vajra body that instantly seizes beings, one will abide for an eon or a thousand eons. This is the stage of union samadhi. This

What is the difference between the generation stage and the completion stage? If it is said that they are the same because they are the same as the wisdom body and the activity of benefiting sentient beings. Answer: It should be said that in the stage of self-blessing, relying on the twelve metaphors such as illusion, one must perform all mudras, mandalas, mantras, and so on. Like this, as long as one does not rely on these, then, like the yogi of the generation stage, one will have conceptual thoughts. The yogi who abides in the completion stage, whether it is the appearance of illusion and so on, or abandoning them, merges the conventional and the ultimate into one taste, enters the state of spontaneous accomplishment, and benefits sentient beings as long as samsara exists, that is the difference. Like this, as long as there is a sign of conceptual thought, then, it is the stage of learning. Abandoning all signs of conceptual thought, one directly realizes the realm of non-conceptual reality. In the dharani of entering non-conceptuality, it says: Thus, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva abiding in the realm of non-conceptual reality manifests what is called "form," one should discriminate in this way: Whatever conduct is called "my form" is conduct in conceptual thought. Whatever conduct is called "the form of others" is conduct in conceptual thought. Calling "form arises, ceases, is completely afflicted" is conduct in conceptual thought. When one conducts by calling "formless," it is conduct in conceptual thought. Form is neither inherently existent, nor causally existent, nor resultantly existent, nor karmically existent, nor possessing, nor entering, conducting in this way is conducting in conceptual thought, starting from here, until conducting by calling "omniscience," it is conducting in conceptual thought, abandoning all signs of conceptual thought, the Bodhisattva enters the realm of non-conceptual reality. That is what is said. That is the samadhi of the completion stage. Then, why is there no difference in the fourth reality, because apart from it, nothing else is observed, therefore, manifest enlightenment.

Furthermore, what differences are there between the stages of union, and so on? It should be said that a yogi who abides in the stage of manifest enlightenment will attain only the ultimate truth, abandoning the conventional truth. However, being solely focused on that, they are not capable of accomplishing the benefit of beings. Therefore, in order to accomplish this, they arise from that state and view beings as if they were in a dream. Like a wish-fulfilling jewel and a virtuous vase, without desire, they completely fulfill the wishes of all sentient beings. They go from Buddha-field to Buddha-field, displaying miraculous emanations. They emanate various mandalas adorned with palaces blessed by the Tathagata's form, which possesses all kinds of excellence. They establish realms equal to the sands of the Ganges as the nature of the Tathagata. Therefore, this stage of union possesses various skillful means and is the result of all stages, so it certainly has clear distinctions. When a yogi who has attained that very reality arises, how can that not be called a result? But if they do not arise, then at that time the meaning of the two stages is the same, and since there is no difference, what distinction is there between them? It should be said that the fourth stage is only the same nature, and it is true to say that. However, the arising of the yogi means that while abiding in that very reality, they accomplish the benefit of sentient beings, and they do not fall away from that reality, like the enlightenment of a Shravaka. Because we have conceptual thoughts, we see that the yogi is acting, but that is not falling away from that reality, because it is always in equipoise. There are four ways of abiding in this way: the abiding of teaching, the abiding of conduct, the abiding of samadhi, and the abiding of truly placing within. The activity of the body of the Buddhas is the abiding of conduct, and the activity of speech is the abiding of teaching.
