To proclaim the teachings, the Blessed One himself spoke the words "Therefore," and so on. It is only the Blessed One who spoke in the Lankavatara Sutra, not someone else. Who asked whom and spoke? Then it was said, "From the Blessed One," and so on. The Great Hero, the Blessed One himself, was asked by Mahamati and spoke. What kind of qualities does the compiler possess? He is a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, who has the intention to attain enlightenment himself and to establish others in enlightenment, that is what is called a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva. Great is because here, the Dharma, time, intention, and so on are vast. Why ask? In order to purify the cause of the appearance of one's own mind, in order to have a method to purify the seeds of samsara that exist in one's own and others' continuums, that is why he asked. That itself is easy to understand. In response, calling "Mahamati" is a calling, possessing true meaning, and possessing special confidence, Mahamati asked well! Concentrate your mind, listen respectfully, keep it in mind, and I will explain, this is the remaining part. What? The continuum of the appearance of one's own mind enters through appearance, so it is not my simultaneous, which has been said before. The first example is that the fruit of the mango tree gradually ripens, not simultaneously, this is an example in a place where there is a mango tree. The mango tree also first produces seeds. When the seeds are combined with other conditions, sprouts will emerge. When the sprouts are combined with other conditions, the trunk will emerge. When the trunk is combined with other conditions, branches, leaves, flowers, and fruits will gradually emerge. The meaning is easy to understand. The second example is that the potter's vessels are also made gradually, this is an example for the people of a place famous for potters. For example, skilled potters, some who are accustomed to pottery making and work, first pound the clay, mix it, stir it, and fire it, not simultaneously. Why is that? Because worldly pottery

Since e is the nature of gradual arising. The rest is easy to understand. Some unknown people do not follow the scriptures, and some who like vastness do not follow that scripture either, therefore, it is said, "Courageous Going Samadhi" and so on. "Bhagavan" refers to the teacher who has subdued the four maras and possesses all qualities. "Bodhisattva" is a Bodhisattva, who does not despise all the trainings, and does not transgress the trainings of superior wisdom, etc. How does one train? In response, "Steadfast Intelligence" is a call. "For example" is an example, entering the trainings gradually is like learning to throw stones. How is it similar? Therefore, it is said, "The teacher of the catapult" or "The student of the catapult," etc. "First, he strikes the cowhide," which means that the one who is learning the catapult stretches the cowhide on a long wooden stick. First, he learns seven cubits, then nine cubits, twenty cubits, and fifty cubits, etc. He keeps learning until he hits it. Later, even hitting it with his eyes closed, etc., is the limit of reaching that point. That person first learns the cowhide. Why? Because that is the reason for clinging to power, and anything smaller than the cowhide and just the cowhide will not hit. Therefore, he first strikes the cowhide. The rest is easy to understand. To show that meaning, "Steadfast Intelligence," etc., is said. "Courageous Going" means going without obstacles, and that which destroys the assembly of disharmony with that samadhi is called that. Abiding in it means reaching that peak. Later, not training in any dharma means not training in the lower ones, which is temporary. Where all that should be trained is absent, therefore, not training is said to be ultimate. "Why is that?" refers to what is related to what? "In order to train in samadhi" means training by being free from all faults. What are those faults? Like this, having view, having conduct, obtaining empowerment, having vows, secret
