Thus it is said, when blessed into Buddhahood, the mind will be free from desire. Then analyze the body, and thereby comprehend the Samadhi of accurate analysis. Therefore, through the sequence of the suchness of wind, realize the suchness of mantra. This is a brief instruction on the characteristics of Vajra recitation, as it is said: The Vajra speech is harmonized into melody. Thus it is said. Now, it is explained that mantras cannot be accomplished through bodily suffering and the like. Such as eating by begging, etc., the assembly of beggars is the beggar. One should not eat and recite in the manner of begging, that is, one should not recite and chant. Eating by begging is an approximate meaning. Therefore, it should be understood that one should not eat with other things such as complete seeking. Also, 'not begged' etc., refers to food obtained without effort other than begging, which is 'not begged'. One should not be attached to this either, but should be content with what is needed to maintain the body, and practice conduct without excessive elaboration. How to recite? That is, recite without deterioration. The mantra is three syllables or other. 'Without deterioration' means inseparable from the deity itself, or not an inferior sound. Because it is said in the sutras that even deteriorated letters should not be recited. With what to recite? That is, enjoying all desirable qualities, meaning all desirable qualities, such as form and sound. 'Practicing' refers to the mantra practitioner enjoying all desirable qualities, abiding in the Samadhi of mental bliss, the mind abiding equally, and truly knowing as it is. Alternatively, all desirable qualities are the nature of the conceptual thoughts of desire. 'Enjoying' these means destroying them. 'Practicing' refers to the mantra practitioner enjoying all desirable qualities, and the yogi should abandon all conceptual thoughts and recite, that is the meaning. Now, regarding the brief instruction on the characteristics of this mantra alone, it is extensively explained in the tantras, and one should follow it. Again, requesting, etc.

Sapa La. Immediately after the Buddha taught the Dharma, the Bhagavan Vajrapani again requested, that is, asked a question. To whom did he request? He requested to the one called "Glorious Vairocana". Glory is the characteristic of the collection of merit and wisdom, which are of two kinds. They are co-emergent and arising from accomplishment. The co-emergent one is the mind that is naturally luminous. The one arising from accomplishment is generated by the power of meditation. The one who possesses such glory is the glorious one. Since he is both the glorious one and the Vairocana, it is said, "Great Glorious Vairocana." This is a special summary. The pervasive lord means the one who has become the lord of all. To request to him is the meaning of the singular. With what does he request? To request is the second action, which is called "generating the characteristic of the three letters of the suchness of mantra," which is the remainder of the sentence. He requests with four verses beginning with "having various forms." Having various forms means various kinds, because they are different in terms of objects, speech, things, and so on. What is it? He mentions "all sentient beings" and so on. Because it generates all sentient beings, therefore, among gods, non-gods, and humans, there is the meaning of "born from that," which is the fifth case of the cause. How should one accept that it arises? Therefore, it says, "Although it becomes non-existent." Non-existent is the formless mind, from which it arises and occurs. For what reason? For the establishment of worldly conventions, it speaks of the entity of "existence," but its own nature does not exist at all, because it has been negated many times. In "the subsequent experiencer" and so on, "experiencing well subsequently" means experiencing with the knowledge of self-awareness, that is, entering into samadhi with the knowledge that is combined with experience. What is that like? It mentions "the bodhicitta is" and so on. The three letters that are inseparably approximated are the generating mind. Equality with space is equality with space, which is the nature of space.

It means there is no such proof. Please, Blessed One, teach the excellent beings how to go correctly and without error to the excellent place. This is for the benefit of beings, so that all sentient beings can enjoy it. Now, in times of dispute, beings should act in this way. Practice, etc., is merely the method of proof, that is, merely understanding a part of the branch scriptures to please the deity in whom one believes. Not understanding the meaning of the tantras and turning one's back on them, calling oneself a lama and khenpo, but that is not a lama, it is only increasing arrogance. The future refers to rebirth in later times. Furthermore, these words of mine, etc., show that these treatises can distinguish and allow the power of the unseparated wisdom of children to enter, which means leading them into wrong paths. Furthermore, what he understands, etc., for what is said, the mind of enlightenment of the Buddha, in those tantras, what is said with various names and terms, the nature that is inseparable in the ultimate truth, he does not understand, does not comprehend, therefore he cannot realize it as it is. Some explain it as having reason, to this, this meaning also has reason, because entering into reason is having reason, this is a reasonable meaning. From then on, etc., is to answer the questioner, from then on, it means immediately after the question is completely finished, this will be explained below. Blessed One, as mentioned before. Because he is the lord of the lineage, he is called the lord. What is it? It is said to be Vairochana Buddha, because it completely illuminates and shines, it is called Vairochana Buddha. Being both great and Vairochana Buddha, it is the great Vairochana Buddha, the characteristic is the summary. The great one, because he is the lord of means. Body, speech, and mind can be tamed, so he is called the tamer. Please ask the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Vajrapani.
