It is illogical to expect results from effort. Why? Because "of all dharmas," etc., indicates that the selflessness of dharmas, i.e., the dharma of emptiness, is not different from the nature of its own characteristics. For example, jaggery, etc., in any case, does not lose its sweetness and heat. The meaning is from "all," that is, no matter what dharma is analyzed, such as the aggregates, etc., there is no self-nature. If all dharmas become emptiness, then wouldn't the Madhyamaka view not become a measure? No, starting from "self-nature," etc., the self-nature of dharmas is only emptiness, but it is not considered that the cause and effect of dependent origination is empty. If that were the case, would it become permanent? Therefore, it is said "therefore." "Therefore" means that because it is emptiness, the dharma of cause and effect is only dependent origination. To explain this meaning, it is said "ignorance," etc., the twelve links of dependent origination are also only the connection of cause and effect, not the connection of cause and effect. Among them, ignorance is the karma and afflictions of the previous life, which obscures the true meaning. The word "first" should be understood by the word "etc.," that is, action, etc. "Old age and death" refers to the limbs from consciousness to feeling, because it is suffering. This itself is the end, that is, only the completion of the number of twelve limbs, but it is not the ultimate end, because the next life is the nature of the five limbs such as consciousness. If it is not like this, what will happen? Starting from "illusion," etc. Among them, the twelve limbs refer to the limbs of the previous life, ignorance and action, and the birth and old age and death of the previous life, plus one's own eight, that is, three parts, in order to dispel the confusion of the three times. Or, the limbs of cause and the limbs of effect, that is, ignorance, action, craving, grasping, and existence are the cause. The rest are the effect. This is what is desired, that is, the Madhyamikas hope that the twelve limbs have no self-nature. In this way, through the way of no self-nature, starting from "limbs," etc., the existence and grasping of the previous life, from this ignorance arises. From ignorance, action arises.

And, from that, five aggregates arise, from consciousness to feeling. From that, craving and grasping arise. From that, existence arises. In that, birth and aging and death of the previous life arise. Moreover, in the Abhidharmakośa it says: Afflictions are afflictions, actions themselves are, other than that, from that other afflictions arise, this is the system of the limbs of existence. Where does it revolve? In the path of existence, that is, the existence of desire and so on, the cycle of the six realms of existence. Or, in the intermediate state, birth in the past, in the existence of death is the cycle. Karma, result, feeling, and whatever belief, other than that there is no sentient being. From the law of dependent origination, mind arises, which is said to be the person fabricated by the heretics, such as saying that there is no experiencer of the karma of cause and effect, that is the meaning. From that, it refers to those and so on, because it is the object of action. What is that dependent origination lineage? For example, from relying on the mirror and the related face contour gathering, only an image appears, but there is no visible lineage between the face and the mirror. Therefore, there is no birth in that, because the face does not enter the mirror. However, it is not possible without that either, because without the two, the image will not appear. For example, the meaning is like that, that which is produced is said to be produced from the power of afflictions and karma. The middle of existence is called the gap between the existence of death and the existence of birth. The relationship is the existence of the intermediate state. The meaning is like this, that is, without a transmitter in the middle, by the power of dependent origination without self-nature, this life and the next life will arise, that is the meaning. The meaning itself is that there is no production, from that, the wise one is the one who is proficient in the sixty-two views. Or the Tathagata, that is, possessing the omniscient wisdom. They have determined the meaning of immovable birth, that is, it has been decided. What kind of nature is the same and arises? Emptiness and so on, that is, it has been determined. In the ultimate truth, from the law of emptiness nature such as ignorance, the law of emptiness nature such as formation arises. Therefore, karma and result and so on, that is, the karma of cause and effect has feeling.
