Etc. Because they are gods and humans, they are the result of virtue. The term "what" refers to generosity. The term "arising" refers to benefiting and harming sentient beings, thereby causing the arising of heavens and evil realms. Moreover, the term "supreme" should be added, meaning to obtain. Therefore, the term Brahma, etc., refers to becoming Brahma by pacifying the afflictions of desire. The fierce one refers to one who performs fierce deeds, namely, becoming fierce through reducing life, hanging, eating flesh and blood fat, etc. Because he can endure rule and conquer enemies, he is Indra. The word "etc." includes Indra and others. To make offerings and rely on them is to rely. Why is it not wonderful? Because one attains Buddhahood by relying on sentient beings. The meaning of this is that the term "god," etc., refers to a god because he enjoys his own light. Because it arises from a mind endowed with intelligence, it is a human. Or, if derived from worldly language, because he is the lord of beings, he is a husband. The fruit of happiness is enjoyment. This non-existence is nothing. The enjoyment of goddesses is not non-existent in this world, but should be known to exist. Enjoyment is benefiting sentient beings, etc., in which the word "only" indicates that there is no other request than benefiting sentient beings. The three realms refer to desire, etc., or underground, etc. Its meaning is as follows: No matter how much enjoyment gods and humans have in the three realms, if they benefit sentient beings, even if they abide in the asceticism of the Hearers, etc., they only attain the heavens and are not endowed with enjoyment. Having thus spoken of benefiting sentient beings and going to the heavens, now the opposite result is spoken of. Hell refers to non-merit, which is the direction that leads sentient beings, namely, the place that destroys sentient beings. Because they go and do not return, they are pretas. Or, because food and drink are tied to the mind, they are pretas. Because they go differently from gods and humans, they are animals. Their suffering arises from harming sentient beings. What is suffering like? Suffering is felt in various forms, namely, due to the influence of cold, etc., the bodies of all sentient beings are different. From what does such suffering arise?

If you ask why, it is because it harms sentient beings, so there is no fault. The meaning is hunger, etc. "Mutual" refers to the nature of self and others. Such suffering is constant, meaning it will not cease in the lower realms. The difference of that suffering is said to be difficult to reverse; it is not through offerings and miracles, because it is karma that must be experienced. Incurable means it is not like a disease that arises from birth, because it arises from sinful karma. Such suffering does not arise from others; it is the result of harming sentient beings. The things of sentient beings that are spoken of are Buddhas, as well as Shravakas, Pratyekabuddhas, and the unsurpassed perfect enlightenment, four in all. Those who have the lineage of Bodhisattvas and have attained the bhumis are purified sentient beings. "Heavenly realms, evil destinies, etc." refers to complete affliction. "Etc." is a common term. From Buddha to hell, know that all are only sentient beings. If you ask how to know, it is the form of ripening; Buddhas and Bodhisattvas are sentient beings who are the ripening of the karma of the root of uncontaminated virtue. Heavenly realms are contaminated virtue. Evil destinies are non-virtue. To those sentient beings, serve and respect them with all means. Body and mind are the means. Or, from the perspective of offerings, giving, etc. Just as you protect your own body, just as you protect it from harming your own body, so too with sentient beings. Things like poison, etc., just as you abandon poison, abandon separation from sentient beings. Therefore, it is shown that if you are separated from sentient beings, you cannot attain unsurpassed perfect enlightenment, which is to be free from attachment, etc. Cessation through individual examination is freedom from attachment through separation from samsara, and the nirvana of the skandhas without remainder, which has the same taste as it, is nirvana of the same taste. Having cut off the mind and mental factors, it abides like a lamp without oil. Who attains that enlightenment? It is attained by the Shravakas. Therefore, it is said that sentient beings are not completely abandoned; if you have not separated from samsara, it is not abandoning sentient beings. That
