These are the moving and unmoving dharmas. Now, the reason for saying "Mind-Only" is the "Victorious Teaching" is that the Buddha, the Bhagavan, is always of a peaceful nature in all aspects of body, speech, and mind. That which is taught as Mind-Only is for the purpose of dispelling the fear of children. The "children" here refer to ordinary beings who have not heard the teachings. Or, it refers to Bodhisattvas who have not realized the meaning of the eighteen emptinesses, because they are inferior to the Tathagata. Dispelling fear means being afraid of falling into nihilistic views, thinking that if one does not accumulate merit for countless three great kalpas, one will not become a Buddha. Therefore, it is said to be Mind-Only, which is a concluding word. "That" refers to the connection with the previous text. "Suchness" is unchanging because it is the realm of the Tathagata. "Not" means that Mind-Only is not the ultimate truth, nor does it have inherent existence. If there is no Mind-Only, then what are the completely imputed, the dependent, and the thoroughly established? "The nature of emptiness, oneness, and self, is conceptualized in the mind in this way." This means that without ultimate self-nature, one can understand the three natures only from the perspective of Mind-Only. Which three? The "completely imputed," and so on. Among them, the completely imputed is the apprehended and the apprehender, which is merely internal and external discrimination, because it has no self-nature. The dependent is the nature of discrimination, because it is subject to other causes and conditions. The thoroughly established is without the discrimination of the apprehended and the apprehender, because it is unchanging and abiding. The three natures that are taught in this way are: "Like the absence of self in phenomena." This means that the absence of self in all phenomena is not non-existent. To whom is it taught? It is taught to the "Great Vehicle Joy," which is to the Bodhisattvas. "Great" refers to the great object, etc., which is to focus on the profound and vast Dharma, and because one's own and others' interests are accomplished, the accomplishment is great. Possessing the great wisdom of the two selflessnesses, diligently striving for three great kalpas and unsurpassed, the means to attain enlightenment and non-abiding, the result is the accomplishment of Nirvana.
