It is the meaning of action. Therefore, how should we speak of "individual self-awareness"? Because it is through the view of the formless Cittamātra as "by that." Therefore, the wisdom of self-awareness is merely a complete imputation, how can we say that it has own-being? If there is the wisdom of individual self-awareness, it must be pointed out that this is own-being, as it is said, referring to individual self-awareness, etc., where "by the agent of individual self-awareness" refers to the formless Cittamātra. "That" refers to the wisdom of individual self-awareness. "As an entity itself" means believing that it exists in ultimate truth. In this way, it is also believed to be real, and it is said, "That, this is spoken of subsequently, cannot." "Cannot" means it is not wisdom, where "this" refers to manifestation. "Cannot" means lacking power. Therefore, "for the sake of generating certainty in other of one's own certainties," means that the view of the individual self-aware Cittamātra, having ascertained in oneself the dharma of self-awareness as "that this," one should generate certainty in other internal and external views by that wisdom of self-awareness; if one has not ascertained it in oneself, one cannot generate certainty in others, this is its conclusion. Because of this, for the views of the Cittamātrins, "the good ones have all been thoroughly questioned," therefore those who follow with faith will surely abide. What is that like? "Those who are always without doubt," because they lack knowledge, they do not engage in speculation. Furthermore, the refutation of self-awareness is "by feeling," etc., where feeling is experiencing self-awareness. Feeling is the meaning of self-awareness, feeling refers to the act of knowing. These three arise in dependence on each other, therefore without the felt, there is no feeling. The meaning is this: first, if the feeler has not become the felt, it cannot become the felt; similarly, if there is no felt and no action, the feeler will not arise either, because it is feeling the felt that makes one the feeler. Therefore, why not admit that only the felt and the feeler do not exist? Because for the wisdom of individual self-awareness, the feeler and the feeling do not occur simultaneously. If there is no wisdom in this way, what about the mind?

So, the word "mind" and so on. Among these, these minds are just names, meaning that the discriminating mind is just a name that is taken as a sign in terminology, because it has no self-nature in reality. Therefore, if asked what is there besides the name in the doctrine, the answer is: everything is just a name in terminology, the essence of all things is just mind. This is the conclusion. Among these, the meaning of name is to represent. If the name is also negated, as it is actually accomplished, then, the name also has no self-nature. That is to say, the discriminating consciousness of the eye and so on just sees and uses its object, but the names of color and so on do not actually exist. This is the conclusion. For example: the end of the name is the letter. The letter also has no self-nature. When one says "vase", the vase is produced. When the name is produced, the vase disappears. Therefore, how can non-discrimination have self-nature? Therefore, through wisdom analysis, there is no existence of entity. The mind is not inside, nor is it outside. Among these, not inside means that it is not the essence of the self-aware wisdom or the discriminating consciousness of the eye. Nor is it the essence of the six objects such as color. The middle is that which cannot be found other than from itself. Therefore, the self-nature of the mind is like illusion. It is the attainment of the victors. Because they have conquered the realm of sin, non-virtue and afflictions, they are victors. The meaning of not attained is that, in reality, there is no essence of mind anywhere, such as outside. Thus, after refuting the essence, it is said that the mind is not anything, such as color and so on. And so on includes food. Consciousness does not dwell in their forms, because they are not the Dharma of form. Among these, the essence of the cessation of the six discriminating consciousnesses is consciousness, which is the basis of the six discriminating consciousnesses. This should also be understood as mind, because mind, self-nature and discriminating consciousness are said to be of the same meaning. Such a mind, in reality, is not even the realm of the Buddhas, starting from the Buddhas, in short, it is summarized from the perspective of self-nature. The two "is not" refer to the present and the future.
