"Everything" refers to the nature of the grasped and the grasper, the three realms and the three times, and the phenomena that move and do not move. "Therefore" is an affirmation of the above reason. "What appears from consciousness is the appearance of form" means that, in reality, consciousness, which is unobstructed, untouchable, and formless, also appears as form that is obstructed and tangible. This is a concluding statement. If asked, how can formless phenomena appear as form? It is like illusion, etc. Among them, the city of the Gandharvas refers to horses, etc., that appear in the sky due to delusion. The word "etc." includes water moons, etc. "Beings" refers to individual beings, because they are born under the influence of afflictions and karma. "Mind bewildered" refers to minds that are different from each other. "Thus" is a word that introduces meaning. The word "etc." includes sound, etc. So, why did the Bhagavan teach the aggregates, etc.? "To eliminate self-grasping," etc. "These" refers to the aggregates, etc. "Great being" refers to a Bodhisattva, because they have the merit to accomplish the benefit of limitless beings, and they have the merit to abide in the Great Vehicle, and they have the merit to be worshiped by the offerings of the three realms. "Mind-only is vast, it is measured," this is a concluding statement, meaning that mind-only particularly abides in the nature of the three realms, etc. Commentary on the Equality of the Absence of Self in Phenomena Now, the explanation of the equality of the absence of self in phenomena: "This mind-only is various," etc. "Various" refers to the world realm that moves and does not move. It is of two types, namely, completely defiled and completely purified. Among them, completely defiled is like the Sahā world. "Established" means that it arises from mind-only alone. If asked, whose view is it? The answer is: it is the view of the Mind-Only school, that is, the Yogācāra school. "How is the nature of consciousness?" refers to how the nature of Mind-Only exists as it is, which will now be explained. "Now" is the beginning of what follows.

Oṃ! Therefore, the necessity of temporarily teaching Mind-Only is these and so on. All of these refers to the phenomena of movement and non-movement that appear previously. Now, saying "Mind-Only" is the teaching of the Sage, because the Buddha Bhagavan's body, speech, and mind's virtues are always of a peaceful nature in all aspects. Thus, what is taught as Mind-Only is for the purpose of abandoning fear in children. The term "children" refers to ordinary beings without learning. Or it refers to Bodhisattvas who have not realized the meaning of the eighteen emptinesses, because they are inferior to the Tathagata. Abandoning fear means being afraid of falling into nihilistic views, thinking that without accumulating merit for three countless eons, one will not become a Buddha. Therefore, the statement that it is taught as Mind-Only is said in this way. The term "that" is connected to the above. Suchness is unchanging because it is the realm of the Tathagatas. The term "not" means that Mind-Only itself is not the ultimate truth, nor does it have inherent existence. Thus, if there is no Mind-Only, then how are the completely imputed, the other-dependent, and the thoroughly established? Emptiness, one self-nature, is thus conceptualized in the mind. Without ultimate nature, from Mind-Only, the three natures are conceptualized. What are they? The completely imputed is grasping at subject and object, it is merely internal and external discrimination, because it has no inherent existence. The other-dependent is the nature of conceptualization, because it is dependent on other causes and conditions. The thoroughly established is without the conceptualization of grasping at subject and object, because it abides completely without change. Thus, teaching the three natures is like the absence of self in phenomena. It means that all phenomena are not without self. To whom is it taught? It is taught to those called "Great Vehicle Joy," that is, the Bodhisattvas. "Great" refers to great objects and so on, that is, focusing on profound and vast Dharma, and because one accomplishes the benefit of oneself and others, the accomplishment is great. Possessing two selflessnesses.
